  • Warning: Scams to take your trader spot now out there

Was in the bazaar the other night when I saw someone auctioning to buy water at 10pp a stack. Figured I'd let him know that there was an NPC in the bazaar who sold the water and once I got his response I'd probobly run over and just pick him up a stack or three (figured he was just having lag issues).

The person responded back to me (apparently once he saw that I wasn't in trader mode) that he was doing that in hopes of suckering someone out of trader mode to be greedy and try to sell him the water so that he could grab thier spot (we had hit our 500 trader limit).

We had a minor discussion on the right/wrong aspect of it, but the I won't cover that since the point of this was to warn you that when folks start making great offers but need you to come to them when the bazaar is full, think twice - they might be trying to scam folks out of trader mode so that they can log in themselves.
    Cigarskunk!
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

If someone did that to me I think I'd be forced to spam click them or spell effect them into LD.....

Or roll a fatty (ogre) and camp-stand them out into the open.

But then I'm a mean, nasty, vindictive little man....

PS. Molto Has retired. EQ2 has lured core group away.

I quit the game I loved because it wasn't anymore. Guilds allowing farmers in because they could do a lot of damage in raids.
SoE not really doing anything about farmers, macroquesters ect.
Still Some of my favorite times spent online happened in Norath. The friends and mobs I remember fondly.

HA HA HA HA all the more reason why i have ooc/shout/auction off when in trader mode

Reminds me of the time in shadowhaven when i was using the brew barrel and a guy I knew said "you dropped something" and so i escaped out of barrel and was looking below me (i carry lots of cool stuff and would hate to lose some) and i turn around and he had opened the barrel and was using it himself.

Hee hee pretty good trick imho although it really doesnt take that long to get a trader spot when its full just keep trying every 20 seconds or so

              Bob001: BUYING WATER FOR 10p
Lilosh tells Bob: Its sold upstairs
              Bob001: Uhhh... bring it anyway
              Lilosh: Bah, AFK now....

But ya gotta admit, it's pretty clever.

Assuming they arent lieing about buying the water.
If they are lieing, Then it's just dishonest.

Yes, tricking someone out of their spot so that you can sell is fine, just don't be dishonest about it.

                hehehehehehehehe

Brell was nearing 500 recently, so things like this may show up here... but I have always figured if you fall for something this basic, you deserve to loose your trader slot.

Yes, even if the guy who falls for it is me, hehe.

I've wondered why my trader would go LD so much. Just turned off everything. Will all this stuff stay off when I play an alt on my trader box now?

I'm an AM player now (if no-one has noticed from my new post times) and if it's not at max now adays, it's darned near close to it.

Saw 487 traders on Terris-Thule this AM before work. Closest I have seen to 500 yet.

Thats a bannable offense, and is annoying as heck to those of us who legitimately are trying to sell our stuff. Now I know why I frequently come back from work, and find a rod of mystical transvergence on my cursor. Since I don't play on Xev, its not you personally, who's doing it, but its still a terrible thing to do, and in my opinion, anyone who does this deserves to be warned at least, if not suspended or banned from the game.
