  • Salvage and skillups

Hi, just a few quick questions that (hopefully) someone can answer for me.

I'm debating getting the <insert name> mastery aa's for my shaman, but as of yet, my trade skills are mostly in the 160-185 range. What I basically want to know, is what percentage does salvage give for item returns, and is it an equal chance to get any component back upon failure. With most skill up recipies using farmed drops from DoN, I'm wondering if it is more effective to have a lower succes rate, with a chance to retry cheaply when the farmed component is returned, or if it is more effective to train up the mastery and use the higher percentage of skill ups from sucsess.

It really depends on how close the items are to trivial for you.

If you are working on things that fail a lot (very high trivial) and you are are a lower skill, you will get more successes with the mastery which gets a bonus % chance to skill up compared to fails. Mastery's lose all effectiveness once items are in the area where you have the absolute minimum chance to fail (most recipes always have a 5% chance to fail near trivial)

If you are working on things that don't fail much and are close trivial to your skill level, salvage is best.

    Hopefully that wasn't too confusing.
