  • How have Tradeskills changed?

    Hi everybody

Due to RL reasons, I quit EQ just before the release of Omens of War. Now, since my RL has changed to the better, I consider to rejoin the game.

I would like to know what changes to tradeskills happened while i was away, because i am not sure anymore, if EQ is the right game for me, considereng, that I will have only two to three hours a day playtime...

    Greetings,

Tradeskills are in the process of changing. It'll probably take a year to adjust all the recipes and such, and even then there will still be gaps. The goal is allegedly to make tradeskills more fun and useful. In practice, it will be to make high-end tradeskills more closely tied to high-end raiding guilds.

Spell Research, Poisonmaking, and such are now tradeskill-like, and can't be trained above 20 at the NPC.

All tradeskills can go up to 300 now instead of 250. You're still limited to only one tradeskill above 200, unless you spend AA points.

Trivials have changed (lowered) on some tailoring recipes. Many other trivials will change (mostly lowered) before the end of 2005.

There are recipes to make expensive augments from rare drops in OOW.

There are new sets of cultural armor recipes in tailoring and smithing, this time for all races and all religions.

There was a change in skillup rates when your skill is above 175, but even with the exact formula laid out for us we're still not quite sure how much has changed.

This statement is misleading. The truth is that high end smithing tradeskills are far more accessable to non-raiders than they have ever been. For the first time in a long time, my smith is making top end gear. Previous to OOW, you had to be flagged to raiding zones to be able to have access to the supplies required to make high end gear. OOW made magnetic armor available to groups, and DON went further and made all grandmaster materials available to groups.

Bah! I didn't know they made that change!
I was trying to get my rogue up in level to use certain NPCs that train a long way on alot of money.
