  • New Healing Potions in 22 June Patch

Please excuse me if this has been posted already:

    Upcoming for June

Our next update is tentatively scheduled for June 22nd. We will be introducing new changes to the tutorial zones and making several improvements to the newbie experience. In addition, we will be fully instancing the Plane of Time, adding a number of new healing potions, and making additional changes to classes including introducing some new spells.

Keep your eyes open for some exciting events that will be taking place in Norrath. You won't want to miss out.

Watch this spot for more details coming soon…
I wonder if the new healing potions will be player-made?

These are probably the potions that are available on test server. They are merchant items, not player made. Healing, mana, haste types of potions, relatively short term duration.

These potions are terrible in the current form, 3 min duration. If you have a slow puller you can blow a potion and never use its benefit.

The version 10 of these potions are 40pp each. Major money sink for almost no benefit. These are intended to helpa player solo better, but why on earth would anyone not insane spend 40pp for a 3 min haste buff when they can get salik in POK for 20pp that last over anhour. Or clarity for 3 min for 40pp when you can get a 4+ hour KEI.

Sure these stack on top of the buffs, but with caps, your probably capped out and getting no return for 40pp. If its overcap, then at that point a 3 min haste overcap is probably not going to make that much difference to your EXP bar, but its surely going to dent your bank account.

No, these potions in the current state of duration 3 min is a nice idea with horrible implementation. It smacks of "update note padding" to claim such marvelous new additions to the game but no real benefit added.

If SOE honestly wants this feature in game, they need to be at a minimum 15 min in duration, or people just wont use them. After the patchday euphoria wears off in a week, no one is going to be buying these.

Seeing alchemy doesn't make anything remotely like this besides the 3/tick mana potions, I don't see how it can hurt it.

Well, if they cost twice as much to make than buy from a vendor, then they could be considered a 'skillup' formula =P

What if these potions aren't aimed at solo play? What if they're aimed at high-end raiders? Three minutes is just about right if they're used for one big very-difficult fight.

Suppose they modify Mata Muram to do more dispels and DoTs. Then high-end gear wouldn't be enough to beat him, you'd need high-end gear plus potions. It would be a whole new challenge for high-end raiders, as if they need yet another one.

Or maybe the new expansion will have encounters designed around potion-use.

wish they would quit making everything for end user players.....i'd lvoe to have some decent content before end level as its taken me forever to get to 57

That statement baffles me. LoY was an expansion designed to target midlevels... end result... it was a major flop. One of the big reasons why they continue to produce a large amount of high end content over low end.

There is tons of content aimed at the 55-65 range. Sebilis, Chardok, Karnor's Castle, Howling Stones, Acrylia Caverns, Maiden's Eye, Griegs End, Akheva, Umbral Plains, The Grey, Ssreasheza Temple, The Deep, Plane of Disease, Plane of Nightmare, Plane of Innovation, Plane of Justice, Bloodfields, Noble's Causeway, Harbinger's Spire, LDoN, DoN.

Current places for a lvl 70 to hunt for decent exp:
Plane of Fire (other three are moderate at best), Vxed, Tipt, Kod`Taz, Yxxta, NWall WoS, Ruined City of Dranik, MPG, RSS, DoN Missions.

Granted, I understand that lower level people enjoy having a reason to buy expansions and being able to explore new zones also, but blaming content for being stuck on a level is quite silly. The reason why more high end content gets added, and why the lvl 70 list is no where near as long is because with ever level cap increase, it pretty much wipes all the previous grounds away. Of the high level zones, multiple require a semi rigid set up to hunt. GoD zones, MPG trials, RSS all require a very well equiped tank and good back up to keep them going. When mobs are capable of doing 2800-4k damage in one round of attacks, things can get messy fast.

The beauty with being midlevels is that when level caps happen, you don't have to actively seek out new hunting grounds in the expansion just to be able to get the same amount of exp that you were use to before hand.

They are now 30 min on Test.

These potions only came into existance to help in solo gameplay. Not for raiding. Its been stated several times on several boards by SOE its to help casual/solo players mostly.

I think i may have said this before I dont remember. Instead of contanstly making new stuff SOE needs to take a little time and go into the old quest and fix them and upgrade the rewards. I might have said this on a other web site. I know they supposedly upgraded the XP boost but I dont know.
