  • CHA Question

    I have a base CHA of 110
Items / Buffs CHA of 160
    Goal CHA of 255

Now my question is when does CHA start to effect prices to Vendors again, from 110 - 160 no change. I heard 200 and 175, But I would like to know for shore. And also is spending 5kpp worth getting 255 CHA?

P.S. All Vendors are Ally to me, "Thank you BoneChipsAreUS"

Depends on the vendor, and faction has nothing to do with it.

In Erudin I need approx 100 to have best price on what seems to be all the vendors there.

In most places, Qeynos, FP, etc 125 seems to do it.

Go to Shadowhaven, and I don't get best price yet, guess its time to purchase more CHA gear.

It also changes with the activity of a Vendor, if a lot of people buy/sell to them their pricing changes.

So far as I know, 250 CHA isn't enough to get best price on a few 'rip-off' merchants.

I've seen a differecne between 130 and 150 while selling high priced items (>100PP). I had one that a merchant was willing to buy off me for 103PP with a 130 Cha, yet offered me 109PP with a 150 Cha...

As for buying , I haven't noticed a difference yet (but I'm not buying anything off the merchants for over 50PP yet...

If you're faction is good, then yes. It will cost the same.

Faction has a lot to do with prices. The higher your faction the less charisma you will need, the higher your charisma the lower your faction can be. Accordng to the main website 104cha with indifferent faction gets you best prices assuming the vendor is neither greedy nor oppertunistic, with apprehensive faction you would need a charisma of 132. For all the details check out the vendor pricing page of the EQTC website ( http://www.eqtraders.com/prices/about_pricing.htm )

After aprehensive I have noticed no difference.

Indifferent/amiable/warmly/kindly/ally, those all seem the same.

The single biggest factor seems to be the activity of the vendor to me.

Roughly the charisma cap for best prices is 103.1+x/50 where x is the merchant activity counter. x is increased by 1 each time the merchant buys something and decreased by 4 when selling something. There's a -11 bonus for being the same race and about +29 penalty for being apprehensive. Ping, Boomba, Tubal and most of Shar Vahl are marked as greedy which requires far more charisma.

                  - Faction is capped at indifferent, for where it concerns item prices. Higher faction doesn't help, even if you are butt-ugly.

                  - CHA counters Faction issues as well as NPC-greed issues all the way up to 255.

                  - There appears to be an inherent bonus for dealing with merchants of your own race. The difference equates to 11 CHA, exactly, relative to merchants of a different race.

                  - Eventually, it's likely that your faction / charisma combo will run into a price cap at which you get best prices. Once you hit the best prices, you cannot increase merchant price offer or decrease merchant price demand on items anymore.

                  - NPC greed is based on the amount of activity he/she has seen since server up. The more he/she bought from players, the more greedy they become. Popular merchants are usually turning greedy pretty fast. Some merchants are inherently greedy (many of those in Shar Vahl, by the way).

                  - Best price offer you will ever get for items you sell is the Item Value devided by 1.05. You can usually estimate item values this way; Peridots are often used as a "standard price check" to check if best prices with the NPC has been achieved. Item Value of a Peridot is exactly 10,000 copper. Merchants will therefore offer at most 9,524 coppers for each Peridot. Once they do, you are at best price with that merchant. This counts for both selling and buying, by the way.

                  - Best price demanded by the NPC merchants is more tricky. All items have some inherent "Sell Factor" to them. Merchants at best price will ask a price equal to Item Value multiplied by this Sell Factor, further multiplied by 1.05. Peridots have a Sell Factor of 1, so the lowest price a merchant will ever sell them for is 10,000 x 1.05 x 1 = 10,500 copper. Items like Fine Steel Weapons have a much higher Sell Factor, probably around 10. This makes these items very expensive to buy out. Runes and research Words also have a high Sell Factor.

There's definatly a sell factor, I can vouch for that, having sold something I was using accidently and having to buy it back once (Luckily, it wasn't worth very much, but I still had to pay about 10 times as much as the merchant had just given me for it)

Gems are all at 1 it seems.
Weapons seem to have a factor of 10 or so.
Armor seems like it's a bit less, but still pretty high
Everything else.. well.. I can't say for sure without testing.

Someone.. yeah you... the one with the funky hair.. waste some time figuring this thing out please
