Trivial failure

Did 20 combines of Acrylia boning last night and failed 3. Smithing 199, haven't failed a boning in years.

Gonna report on EQlive as well. I suppose it could be the RNG being mean because i found 3 stacks of acylia on a vendor, but I don't think so.

As I understand it, trivial really only means you cannot raise your skill from that combine; and a combine will not be no fail unless you are 200 unmodded points over the trivial level. Except, of course, for the no fail combines.

I'm thinking it was just the RNG extracting vengance for a good streak that lasted years. The RNG is evil, and its sentient too - no matter what they say!

As someone explained to you on your EQLive post, since your skill level is not 200 points over the trivial for teh Acrylia Boning recipe, it's not considered "no fail" for you yet.

Therefore, YES, you can still fail at making them, even if you haven't in a long while.
