  • OoW type 12 augment, ok, but ....

As far as i know, most OoW augment have FACE - NECK - SHOULDER - BACK - WAISTE .

only kyanite, sodalite , tourmaline and titanite can be place on cultural armor, what about everything else? there is absolutly nothing that have slot 12 for thoses.

its a total waste of pixel to mark slot 12 on them. Did i miss somethig?

    Correct me if im wrong.

Slot 12 appears on all of the new DoN (GM at least) cultural armors. It will probably also appear on other DoN gear.

Slot 12's are great. You can find a lot of augs from the DoN merchant that fit in any slot. I currently have the 12 to all stat aug in my slot 12 spot.

hmm ya i never considered those augment for DoN cultural, well, the choice is still very slim if you have cultural leg to augment.

still there is no cultural neck waist face cloak or shoulder, why slot 12 on the oow augment?

Quite possibly, to preclude you from using a second type 7 on it, and they didn't want to put type 8. /shrug

Could have been worse - they could have put type 3, 7, 11 on the things. Who wants to do a lot of LDoN nowadays?

Plus, it was probably MUCH easier for them to run a script that says (in psudocode, not real code)

Find all oow tradeskill items items.
            Loop through all items
            Add slot 12
            end loop.

            Than:

Find all oow tradeskill items items.
            Loop through all items
            Add slot 12
            Unless it is X, y, z.
but if z is also XX add anyway
But if Y is als YY add anyway
            end loop.

            etc.

it was easier to add 12 to everything.

            and finally aditionally...

adding 12 NOW will allow them to LATER add something else that has a 12 slot for it with out having to again add another step to change. and Tada, another use for the item.

I plan to put the BiC aug in my cultural legs slot 12, once I finish the quest. BiC quest aug can go in any slot.

Augs from Tipt also go into "any" slot, as does cipher of veeshan.

And there are some +stat and +resist augs from DoN merchants that can go into "any" slot.

Doesn't stop me from thinking that there should be a cultural aug, perhaps with shielding or avoidance or combat effects, that could go in slot 12 leg slot.

Or from thinking that perhaps cultural should add slot 9 or have slot 9 augs also fit into slot 12.

How does this make Slot 12 great? Yes, an extra slot is good. But Slot 12 is the worst available type, isn't it? There are 4 augs (plus permutations) that fit in Slot 12, and each of those also fits in Slot 7.

To me, the question is did SoE intend to make Slot 12 the most restricted aug slot in the game, or did they not realize how little use it had? I suppose they could be planning on making more Slot-12 augs available, but they didn't see it as important as making up a Slot 9 for the DoN-merchant armor. I'm not holding my breath to see anything good in particluar about Slot 12.

Augs that go in legs slot 12 and don't also fit in "all" slot types?

                  NONE.

                  Enough said.

You just managed to make me curius, if you are in a position to complete the BiC quest, why on earth are you using tradeskill gear

A fair amount of the early BiC stuff is groupable and not very hard to get done. The Smith Rondo raid is a slow up, but even that can be done without a guild if you work it right publicly. Probably not so much anymore, but that's because Tipt is the only win needed for KT nowdays.

The new tradeskill gear is very nice after it's augmented with a symbol.

The Iksar plate legs have a better AC than Plane of Time legs, plus,... bic quest.. GM tradeskillers.. I think probably really really really like this game and would just do it anyway.

My magelo is linked in my signature. You'll see the gear I used to wear in my bank in the upper left, and my current gear (tradeskill bp/legs) equipped.

I'm fairly new to my current guild, so don't have much dkp to spend, so I prefer to use the dkp to upgrade items with only 100 hp on them (like mask) rather than to upgrade items that I can make myself that have over 100 hp and very high ac on them (like bp/legs).

Yes I'll end up getting raid bp from kessdona and raid legs from mpg trial or anguish at some point -- but I'm only #47 on the guild's dkp list, so it'll be a while before it's my turn for anything like that, and meanwhile, the gm bp/legs are much better than my old Vex Thal breastplate or grimror's (EP/time) legs.

So I wear the gm bp/legs because... I like the look (grey bp/legs set off by pinkish-purple qvic armor in all other visible slots) and because it saves me a sick amount of dkp by skipping time/god bp/legs that I can then save up to use for really good oow/don bp/legs.

Not to mention I'm a tradeskiller. I'd gladly wear armor that I made myself if it was comparable to what I could get raiding or better than my current best gear -- which was the case for the bp/legs. Better than my current best gear. Something good to wear until it's my turn for endgame bp/legs.

Oh and I did finish 11 of 14 parts of the BiC quest so far -- got the second aug in my slot 12 in legs now, yay.

You don't have to FINISH the BiC to get a really good aug out of it. Most of what I've done so far was with 1 or 3 groups, only needed a raid for weaponsmith, which is doable with an EP level guild btw. That will get you up through the first two augs without much raiding at all. To get the second half done you will need some raids.. but hey... no point in not doing the first part unless you're just lazy *grin*

I just read it as you was counting on completing BiC (im at step 12 my self, missing only txevu and tacvi) and while getting legs/bp might seem hard then getting the BiC pieces seems alot harder to me

Hope you got the summoning circle glyph!

Check out my magelo's BP for use of a completely level-appropriate use of Slot 12 + BIC aug. You don't need to be all the way through Tacvi for it to still be sparkly and useful, and for the DON Cultural to be better than anything available. It's arguably better than anything pre-Inktuta for Shadowknights.
