  • Grandmaster's Armor Initial Reports

Well, I've done of a few of the combines now that I'm GM flagged, and I'm beginning to notice a trend. I'd like to hear other GM reports though as I suppose it could be bad luck. What I've noticed is it seems armor pieces seem to have a higher fail rate than symbols. Currently failed 3 GM wood elf leggings at a 300 skill, BSM3, and trophy mod, but meanwhile I've made 4 for 4 symbols: legs, arms, gloves, bp via glossy drake hides at a 290 skill with only TM1. Anyone else finding similar reports?

This could very well be a function of trivials. The leggings you attempted have a trivial of 386, I think, if they're like the other sets. The symbols (other than the BP one and maybe the legs) appear to have much lower trivials. We don't have enough info about trivials to make a conclusive statement yet, but my guess is it's a combination of luck and difficulty due to trivials.

      Bad Luck!

Opposite here, I am 11 from 12 on the gm armor pieces but only 11 from from 17 on the symbols.

(I'm probably just overly annoyed because I blew 120 Shissar Scales that took like 20 hours to pharm and yielded no skillups.)

Symbols and Armor Pieces have the same trivial for the corresponding pieces. According to the calculator I should be succeeding 89% of the time. To me that's more than just bad luck, and I'll be really mad if I fail a fourth attempt.

Arny, I'm curious, are you making smithed or tailored gear?

Smithed, I made my pally a full set of the gm plate barring the bracers and was pleasently surprised with the success rate since I am only at 242 modified skill in smithing, having said that now I bet I blow up the next 10 attempts!

Arny, I hope you are talking about making a full set of Master's and not Grandmaster's... I really don't think you could have succeeded the 386 combines at 242 skill. I've attempted 3 of the 386 combines at 330 modified skill with BSM3, and have failed all 3. Has anyone else had better luck with these combines? Right now I'm saving all of my components and trying to get an XtC hammer due to my failure thus far...

Well, I made the Cultural Wood Elf Druid BP today which trivialed at 386 skill. However, that was tailoring. Currently I'm 5 for 5 in tailoring GM items, and 2 for 5 in smithing (made GM chain arms and gloves from a salvaged leg failure). More updates to follow...

tnexus, which smithing items did you fail, and what are your modified smithing/tailoring skills?

GM Tunare Wood Elf Chain Leggings (Grandmaster's Wirewood Leggings) x3. I have BSM3, TM3, Salvage3, and 5% mods. Currently working on getting that elusive 15% smithing mod as thankfully I have access to blob1 CoH bot as our guild is finishing up VT raiding. Tailoring I have 291 skill, and Smithing is 300, both unmodified.

Great to hear man. I just got Mojogoth to 300 Smithing.

any evidence modfied skill over 300 matters?

If you're skill is 300, even if your skill says 330, do you have any evidence that the points over 300 work?

I asked this before and noone knew at that time. I stopped skilling up at 261 because with the VT gaunts Im 300, even. if modifiers past 300 work, guess that could get me to 345.

                            Nope grandmasters!

I am now 15 from 16 on the gm armor pieces and 15 from from 21 on the symbols, and rushing them out the door, as fast as the metallic scales drop, to customers .

No one was more surprised than me at the success rate at 242 skill level, plus all the tradeskill aa's (now 265 after 2 mammoth skillup/tribute enhancing sessions).

Per the calculator you should be 58% with 242 plus 5% and mastery 3.

You have 30/37 successes or about 81%, but this is a small sample set, so you could just have been lucky so far..
