DoN - Cannot combine to create patterns

I have searched the forums but was unable to find the answer I was looking for, please forgive if I had missed it.

I had before created the backpacks of patterns needed to make Expert Vah Anima patterns, so I am well versed in the combine items needed as I had done it before. Heck, I have previous notes I wrote down so I wouldn't forget

Book Binding = Quill (not "a quill"), Large Bottle of Ink, Compacted Backpack, Roll of Plain Parchment, Ancestral Vah Shir Armor

When I hit combine I get the dreaded message
You cannot combine these items in this container type!

I inspected the Ancestral book, and it does not say anything different that I cannot still use it. I believe I had used it about 3 times prior.

Please let me know if this is a known bug or I am doing something wrong.

I also received this lovely little message when trying to create another pack of Expert symbol patterns in Felwithe - all the ingredients exactly as I did the first 4 sets of pattern combines. On a hunch that something got skewed, retrieved my Research book, pulled out "a quill" (stackable spell research version) and threw it into the Binding in place of Quill. Worked as it should've the first time round

So these now take the old type of quills? Can anyone confirm whether the DoN item "quill" still exists?

I can't find the post again after a very brief search, but I remember seeing one that implied there was some type of decay in the books. Could this be it?

Then again, I could be totally off. Will look for that post again.

Verdandi, confirming that "Quill" does still exist - have one in my tailoring packs waiting to see if this is just a temporary bug, or an actual change. Also still available on the tailoring merchant in the basement of the Felwithe Paladin's guild. Also, "a quill" research type was returned when I made the sack of patterns, same as "Quill" was.

They may have gotten rid of the "quill" (was a silly item!)

Will have to see after a few more people confirm it.

You get a message everytime you use the book, something along the lines "as you look at the book its pages become more worn and you realise it will not last forever"

Yes, and it is very informative... BUT, when you inspect the book at a later time (maybe decided to go on vaca for a few months and come back) you should be able to rightclick it and see just how many more uses you can use being "older". How else do you know? Does the book vanish?

Well, I was able to create the backpack finally.

Seems SOE forgot to mention they took out the "Quill" and replaced it with "A Quill" to remove any confusion in the future.

So............. Delete your "Quill" and purchase the "A Quill" and your set!

Yes, that should have been in the patch message. I'm sorry about that. I was on vacation the week that the patch was done and I tried to make sure that all the stuff I messed with was noted for the message.
