Simple (?) DoN symbol question

Can one put an expert symbol into a journeyman armor? For example, an expert legging symbol of the skeptic into slot 11 on a journeyman's stormguard greaves?

Likewise, can one put a journeyman symbol into an expert armor?

I'd try it just for trying it sake, but then the augments become no drop and I'm stuck.

Dev's made no statemtnt that it could or could not be done.
In general I don't see the code as being made to stop you.

But someone would have to try it to be sure.

Yes, higher tier Symbols can be inserted into lower tier armor. Didn't have the Stormweave Swatches to make myself some Master's leggings, so I settled for the Expert leggings from Drachnid Silk - the Master's Legging Symbol of Growth went in just fine, and was able to remove it with a Class VI Augment Distiller to insert it into my Master's Leggings soon as I'd crafted them

Just for laughs,I put an Expert Sleeve Symbol of Tunare into a Journeyman's Seashine (Erudite) sleeves. Yes, you can mix levels and create random diety mixes. (Now lets see if I can get it out )

This means that if, say, your best Half Elf Smith can only make Master items, but your friendly Human Smith (or tailor) can make GM symbols, you Half Elves can still get pretty nice armor.

Also - since the particular race Smith only needs the first book - he or she can be almost any level. The low level, but skilled, craftsman does have a place in DoN crafting.

(edit: The Aug came out fine -the sleeves are dropable again -but the Aug remains no drop. Next time I'll destroy it out, heh heh.)
