Drops randomly from any Velious mob that drops the quest gems for Velious armor. Geonids in WL, Spiders in Velks, Mobs in SG, CS...the list goes on. Basically, if the mob ever drops any Crushed gems, it can drop the CDD.

The problem with this, of course, is that you have no specific place to go "farm" it...and the mobs that can drop it have very large loot tables. This is definitely the bottleneck in Master's Symbols.

Allakhazams is rather confusing on where exactly the Crushed Diamond Dust drops. It says that they drop off specific mobs in Wakening Lands and Cobalt Scar but then later goes on to say that they also drop in Sirens Grotto and Velketors Labyrinth but gives no mobs for those two zones. The mobs that are specifically cited as dropping the CDD are:

- Geonid Shaman in Wakening Lands
- Suits of Sentient armor in Wakening Lands
- Korzak Stonehammer in Wakening Lands
- Rapticor in Wakening Lands
- a Haunted Seachest in Cobalt Scar
- a Siren Enchantress in Cobalt Scar

Personally I spent about 2 hours killing Geonids in Wakening Lands including probably 25 or 30 Geonid Shaman and didn't see a single CDD drop. I'm probably going to try the suits of armor next.

I can personally say that while getting my 80 bulthar kills and 40 trunks (in about 300 bulthar kills) I got 5 CDD. and it defenitely came from any of the mobs we killed. We also had to kill mulkor and the walruses becasue they shared the same spawn spots.

Drop rate thread?

Ngreth, there's a dev-sponsored thread regarding the book quests, how about one gets started devoted to the drop rate of other components? (the ore and swatch drops, and symbol drops) It will probably help get these issues fixed sooner and in a more systematic way if all of the complaints are in one place. Just a suggestion!

8 hours in Velk's (upper spiders near frenzy and kobold village) resulted in 1 Crushed Diamond Dust.

4 hours in Wakening Lands (sentient armor) resulted in 0.

4 hours of farming in Siren's Grotto ( mobs around pool off Western Wastes zone) resulted in another goose egg.

The rate was about 1 mob downed every 5-10 minutes on average. Had many quest gems, spells, and other loot drop, but these are the slugworm\dust of discord\discordant scorae of our circle of tradeskillers.

Solo'd my 80 Bulthars at zone in (and had to clear the walrus and any molktor that spawned) So I am guessing 150-175 mobs in SG and I got 1 CDD. Was hoping for a few more. Had a buddy killing othmir all week for skill ups and he didnt get any.

Crushed Diamond Dust Drops

Well, as usual, dion't forget some of the most productive mobs out there. I find the CDD drops at a rate of about one a night from the vendors in PoK. Keep your eyes peeled.

I spent more than 8 hours there over several days in a group killing at entrance maybe 1 death/3min and saw just 1 drop. At that rate I may just opt to skip Master and wait for GM, depending on the rarity of those drops...

I've been farming velium in Velks on Ledge to satisfy my smithing habit, and have picked up 4 or 5 CDD there - maybe one every 2nd or third 2 hour session. As others have written, I don't see any effective place to farm this. Best bet, IMO, is to farm money-making stuff and just buy it out of the bazaar.

Has anyone tried the sirens in SG? I seem to remember them being an excellent source of quest gems for Velious armor. I was down there killing for a VP quest drop a couple of months ago and I remember walking out with about 10 chest slot quest gems, but I can't remember if I bothered to loot any CDD or not...

Looks like I got pwnt by the mods. You guys are no fun =P. Try looking in the banished area in Icewell Keep. Almost every mob drops a "crushed" type of gem only. Just watch out for the giant kodiak...
