a win for the barter hall:

a trader in the bazaar and i have been playing afk-tag for a couple of days, negotiating over some cod oils. when we finially agreed on a price, i modified my buy line and he was able to come in at his convenience and sell me the 145 cod oils. yay!

all of this happened without the two of us ever being at the computer as the same time.

        what they need to do

        A) Combine Barter Hall and Bazaar
        B) Make sure /buyer and /trader can be run simultaneously

what they should do as well
        C) Give us larger bags (20slot) or larger banks (preferably both)
        D) Make a direct teleport from one of the "Halls" to the other so you don't have to go through the hub

        -------------

I would fall into the "pays less than bazaar prices" category - because i often REFUSE to pay for the prices in hte baz - 80p for a single pelt, NO WAY, forget about it

i'd prefer going back to the old bazaar floor plan, with the rectilinear layout, wherein right-clicking on a trader's name would take you to that trader. also, it only took 10-15 seconds to get across the entire bazaar (a useful metric for folks picking up tradeskill ingredients from multiple traders). the new bazaar (and barter hall) designs are beautiful, but are functionally inferior to the old design. how about going back to the old layout but keeping the new textures?

My fiance set up his barter mule, looking for ribbon dye components for 5pp each. He made the mistake of setting his quantites at 999, and is currently complaining about having to do 739 steam dye combines

Edit, it was 740 but he accidentally drank one, just thought that was amusing enough to share

Well, I've actually found another use for the Bazaar.

I do professional vendor diving. That is, I regularly sweep the NPC merchants for stuff to sell in the bazaar. My trader is always quite full, so I usually limit my purchases to things that I KNOW will go very quick or that may take a while to sell, but I know I can demand a good mark-up - call it a storage fee if you like.

I've now started to stop by the Barter zone to see what folks are buying. I've now started buying some items that I would normally have skipped because I know I have an instant buyer. Even if it is only a small profit.

@binlaen I think you posted in the wrong section.

I've used barter before and it has worked well for me but not as much as I'd like to and some buyers are being stingy with their trade. One buyer had the gall to offer only 200pp for blue diamonds when you can get a lot more just selling to npc.

I did notice a few complains that when trading your rare item for others (for example trade one Lesser Muramite rune for 100 Radiant Crystal) often the buyer ends up getting only one item rather than the required number of items so it may be a bug to watch for. If not a bug a closely guarded exploit the GM doesn't know of yet.

In the meanwhile I'm going to set my buy line to get lots of nest dragon meats. They show up so they exists in Vazaelle but there's little known about some of the higher end recipes requiring NDM's like Lunch Feast. I tried Nest Drake but it wouldn't combine and I can confirm Nest Dragon are live.

If I remember correctly, selling diamonds / blue diamonds / raw diamonds to NPC vendors get you lest than 200pp. Can't remember the exact amount. However, the NPC vendors will charge about 250 or 260 for them. I will try and verify later, as I am holding onto a ton of diamonds.

I love the /buyer mode. I duel box, so I have a seller and buyer up at the same time, which enables me to buy a lot of the tinkering supplies that I need. Some nights I have bought a ton of stuff, and other nights nothing. But it sure is a great tool, especially now that they are in the same zone together so sellers can search if there is a buyer if they want before setting up trader mode.

If I'm reading this correctly, this complaint stems from a misconception about how the system works. You CANNOT set up a Buy Line to buy 100 Radiant Crystals and offer 1 Muramite Rune in return. For each buy line you set up, the compensation you list is what you will give for EACH of the item that you buy. If you tried to make the above case in Buyer mode by putting 100 in the Count field, what happened is that you woudl setup to buy 1 Radiant Crystal for 1 Muramite Rune, 100 times.

The current system does not support Buying multiple items, only buying a single item multiple times, if you understand the difference. The entire compensation list will be given to the seller EACH time he sells you ONE of the item you're Buying.

With CHA of 106+ on NPC vendor that are indifferent or better faction, I get around 250p per blue diamond I sell. Raw and plain diamond sells for close to 200, it's the blue diamond that I get more.

Either that npc was a trol lwith really low CHA or just never checked to see what npc pays for a blue diamond and assumed it's 200 like other diamonds.

We do have some pricing info in the database guys. Not for every component, but for a lot. If you check the database you would have seen that (at max CHA) Blue Diamonds go for the following:

                          NPC's sell this at 262p5g
                          NPC's buy this at 238p9s5c

So someone offering to buy BDs in the Barter Hall for only 200pp is not being realistic, since NPCs pay more than that.

                            1. thanks Maev - I was going to make the same point about diamonds. I buy blue diamonds at 250p, and diamonds at 200p, a tad more than a vendor will give you for them. Setting buy prices below what a vendor will give a player for it is ...well.... not likely to be very successful.

                            2. On Mith Marr there are between 1 and 5 people in barter mode when I check in.

                            3. Most of them set their buy prices way too low. For example, buyers wanting small bricks of acrylia for 25p when they regularly sell fast in bazaar for 75p.

                            4. I may have misread other posts - but I understood people complaining that you had to be in barter hall to see what is available? I regulary check barter lines from then bazaar hall.

Yes, I stand corrected. Blue Diamonds go for 238 if you sell to NPC. A plain diamond goes for 190. I guess I thought they all went for same price.

                              Thanks for info all.

well, to some extent, buyer mode allows one to publicly announce what one wishes to pay for some item (as opposed to "/ooc WTB blah-blah-blah 25p" ad nauseam.) sometimes, the buyer prices are wishful thinking. sometimes, buyer prices are simply ill-though-out (for instance, i usually set up my buyer right before bed, and have been known to make pricing errors ). if nothing else, buyers offer an instantaneous price-check for sellers.

this thread was started just after the barter/buyer feature went live, when there was still a separate barter zone. since the barter/buyer and bazaar/trader features have been moved to the same zone, these comments probably no longer apply.
