Has something gone screwy with silk thread prices?

I only recently checked for silk thread in the bazaar with the idea of my 10 monk doing some fishing.
Much to his dismay, prices for thread have gone from the pre-bazaar figure of 1p each to up to 5p each!

Is this the same on your server?

I want to enjoy some non twinking, but at level 10 I might as well forget the "low cost" of fishing all together.
Gathering thread would just take too long. He could just fish for the skill-ups.

Spiderling silks go for about 4 plat each. Silk threads about 10 plat each. Cause Leather padding goes for about 20 to 25 plat each and quality skins sell for about 10 plat each.

I suspect that this is less that it is after the bazaar, than it is after the Ceremonial Solstice Robe! Though bazaar likely contributed.

It is a simple matter of people pricing their goods at what the market will bear. If no one bought spiderling silks for 4pp then no one would price them there. I am thinking of giving my wizard the surname Spiderlingbane seeing as all the gear he is wearing was bought with the 8K he made farming spiderlings for those too rich, in a hurry or lazy to do it themselves. The in-game economy changes as the server population levels. Tradeskills are hot these days, even more so prior to the release of PoP when my wizard made his fortune. When you can sell 10 stacks of spiderling silks at 80pp each within an hour of entering /trader mode for two weeks running, perhaps my prices were too low?

the server population has alot to do with it, and the amount of tailors and smiths.

any product is only worth what you can sell it for, having this site, or spellcasters or alakazam say it's worth 5p(example) is only a guide line. If you can sell a spiderling silk for 20p, then it's worth 20p, if you can't find a buyer then it's worth 0p. You may delude yourself into thinking it's worth 5p, but no buyer=sit in bank or on mule till you find a buyer, then it can actually cost ya (maybe you could have put something else in that trader slot that woulkd have sold).

i farm spiderling silk alot, if the zone im in is crowded with newbies, i buy them from the newbies for about 2-3 plat, if they are a total newbie (not someones alt) i offer services for the silks, like make cheap armour out of those ruined pelts they have on them. Bring me your ruined pelts and spiderling silks and i'll make ya some armor. about 2 silks per piece of armor.

after all, i have the knowlege, all they have been doing is killing spiders, i could be total buttwipe and farm those spiderlings regaurdless of how crowded the newbie zone is with newbies.

Keep in mind, that in the context it was being used, i would have been calling myself the offending word.
