Hi all,

Working on the Expert and Master Wood Elf tradeskill quests and just thought I'd share some numbers for you on the quests.

For Expert:
Kill 50 plaguebone skellies in City of Mist
Loot 20 bone chips

Well, 42 plaguebones down and only 13 bone chips so far...expecting to have to kill 10 over the 50 to get my drops.

For Master:
Kill 80 sanctum grimlings in Acrylia Caverns (Inner)
Loot 40 toes

OMG...5+ hours killing last night got me the 80 kills...and only 15 toes. And yes, it has to be toes off of the sanctum mobs to count. Tried TM toes and regular grimlings in Acrylia...no go. I went back there for lunch and the numbers are now 7 hours, 109 kills, 18 toes.

I'm just curious if others are experiencing these drop rates...

Edit: Got my 52nd Plaguebone kill and still on 13 bone chips...18 mobs in a row without one. Kind of disheartning, but still hanging in there.

Update on the Expert quest:
Managed to get the last bone chips I needed on the 68th kill (actually one over since the mob had two). Once that was completed, a new part popped up telling me the quest NPC wanted 4 of the chips. Turned them in to him and got the second part of the quest:

Kill 5 Army Behemoths in City of Mist
Loot 1 Strange Ochre Clay

This part was simple once I could find and target the ABs and every one had the clay as loot. After these two were complete, the final part appeared - give the NPC a clay. Once done, I received my Expert book. I feel so special now.

I'm hoping the master version goes the same way for the second part as well (ie much easier than the first kill/collect).

Halfling quests arent much better. Journeyman quest is excruciating.

Kill 20 minos in Beholder's, loot 4 axes. 30 minos later I got my first axe. Problem is, they only spawn about 4-5 in entire zone every cycle. Drop rate did pickup, but the second half is just as bad.

Kill 10 Evil Eyes...there are only 2 Evil Eye spawn points (except the odd wanderers) and about 2/3 of the time it is a named. So to finish this you get 2 kills out of every 3 spawn cycles, so you ened 15 spawn cycles to complete this. so over 90 minutes of sitting on your ass waiting for the evil eyes to spawn....

To make matters worse, the other quest (augment quest) is bugged. The guy asks for 4 items. A bead Necklace, a bunch of optic nerves, a cat skull cap, and a fractured femur. Wasnt too hard to get them, but he doesnt recognize the fractured femur as a quest item. Turns out there is a very rare item called fractured femur which is a result of an erudite quest, so im guessing they got the items wrong and it wants this rare thing back...

and another quest takes you to the chardok basement to kill 80 decayed soldiers. They are common enough, but for every decayed soldier there is another mob that will aggro you, as well as unseen cleric mobs healing the whole fight. Think i got about 20 in 90 minutes of work.

For the other quest I have to go kill 50 of something in the Hole, forget which type of mob for that one...

That how far i have gotten, iam not level 70 so Elistar wont give me the Lavaspinners Lair hunt. But NOTE! experts book is in Lower Guk and NOT in Lavastorm Mountains!

Ouch, if not the RNG, that needs to be tweaked.

The Dark Elf quests were all very balanced for me as far as kills to drop rates.

I have not yet done the GM quest yet (have 1.8 levels to finish first).

More updates from Inner Acrylia...

Another 77 mobs down, 7 more toes...so that makes 186 and 25. I'm hoping to finish this quest before I hit 300 sanctum mobs killed....

Grandmaster Task

These are all of the kill 120, loot 80 variety, but the trick is that they only drop the items from the mission instance of the zones. I did 1 mission with a group last night. In the end, we had killed 55 mobs and got 28 of the lootable item I needed.

Also, don't do what I did and assume like the kill count, that group looted items will count. I was pulling/tanking, so payed more attention to finishing the mission over looting. In the end, we did have 28 looted items I needed, but I got 0 credit for them.

Here's what I found for the WE Master Book. I brought consisting of:

70 Ranger
70 Ranger
70 Warrior
69 Druid
68 Pally
67 Cleric
65 Cleric (Bot, later replaced other Ranger)

We chain pulled as much as we could and even started to AE out of boredom and something different. It took me 4.5 hours to loot 40 toes. At one point I had zero drop in 30 minutes, but another time I had 3 in a row. I probably killed roughly 300 of them before I got my toes. I think I had 11 toes when I hit the 80 mark. I'm just thankful it's done.

The first Dwarf quest (Ancestral Armor) was kinda irritating, but not bad at all. You have to loot a grave mold and a Zombie skin from Unrest (easy) and then a rotting orc tooth and a crushbone beads from Crushbone. I ended up clearing Crushbone about 5 times before the stupid beads dropped.

The Dwarf Jounreyman's book required 20 Tormented Dead kills in Unrest and to loot 4 mushrooms (forget their name). Similar to Steamfont, there are only a few Tormented Dead spawns each cycle. It took many cycles to get to 20 kills, but it took around 40 kills to get all 4 mushrooms. The second part of this required 10 Darkbone Skeletons and to loot one Darkbone marrow. This was easy.

The Expert book required you to go to Kedge Keep and get 50 merrmaid kills and 20 Ocean Ink. There are quite a few mermeaids in Kedge, so this went fairly quickly. Also, I had about 40 ink when I had logged my 50th kill. All told, this was quicker than the Journyeman's quest. The second part required you to kill 5 Cauldron Sharks and loot 1 Shark Skin. The sharks drop a LOT of skin, heh. This was pretty easy.

The Master's book has you go to The Deep to kill 80 Thought Horrors and loot 40 fangs from them. However, there are a lot of mobs with the Thouht Horror model that don't count toward this quest. None of the mobs on the close side of the bridge count. Still working on this one.

I decided to skip ahead to the Master's quality quest - and once I'm done with Master and Grandmaster, I may go back just and do the lower end stuff. My Master quest has been to slaughter 80 Di'Zok mobs in Chardok and collect 40 Insignias. I was already Indifferent faction with Chardok when I started, which irritated me, considering how long that faction work took me. After about 2 hours of killing, I'm now Dubious with Chardok and have 53 out of 80 kills and 20 out of 40 drops completed.

On the upside, it dawned on me that since I'm an SK, I could just beat a mob down to about 10% health and then FD and let my mob finish the job, thereby not giving me the faction hits. Not sure why I didn't realize this before I was Dubious - but it's working great and I should at least be able to save my faction from going any further downhill. I still don't appreciate the fact that SoE has forced many to just ruin their faction however (if they want to do the quest).

As an Erudite, for Master I'm killing 80 Bulthors in Siren's Grotto and looting 40 trunks. I completed the 80 and had 28 trunks. By compaison, I think I've been fortunate. Siren's is a pleasant zone, with lots of cash gems - and I even got the Spiked Seahorse Hide Belt to drop off Fellspine. Only 10 more drops to go until I get to the next stage!

Regarding the Master High Elf quest:

It took me about 2 hours to kill all 80 mushrooms, and I had looted all of the fungus clumps well before I had 80 kills. Of course, it helps that a mushroom can drop multiple clumps per kill...

It took me about 8 lotus kills to get a soft lotus petal, however.

Can you have multiple quests at the same time? I currently have CoM and AC showing. I got tired of CoM, and thought I would try to do AC for a break. It allowed me to get them both, but when I went to the area in AC that has Sanctum mobs and began killing, the quest wouldnt update. Wondering if its bugged, or I am in the wrong place for AC.

You're saying that the toes from ofhter grimling modles in the same zone don't count?

The dark elf one is kill kurps in seb, and collect wax flowers. All of the wax flowers i looted, reguardless of wether it was off a Krup.. Jin.. Kor.. Bok.. counted on the task counter.
