  • Tradeskill Containers

    Hey there.

We made some changes to the underlying functionality of tradeskill containers that went out with the Dragons of Norrath expansion. For the most part these changes should have little or no impact on the way things work in game, they were mostly added to give us more flexibility on the design side.

Of course you noted that I carefully used the word "mostly" in that last sentence. There are a few changes and oversights on my part that I need to let you know about.

Most of the existing portable racial tradeskill containers had to be replaced with new ones. Unfortunately this means that some of you will need to create new sewing and fletching kits. In order to even the playing field, all sewing and fletching kits will be made, none will be purchased. It just didn't seem fair to have one race buying kits and others making them.

I did, however, forget to do a few things before launch. I didn't write a book to explain the new sewing kit recipes and I didn't remove the old recipes or old kits that are sold on vendors. I'll be adding that (or taking that away) with the next patch. In the meantime here are the recipes for the new kits.

    For the racial sewing kits
Combine the following in your racial forge:

Small Brick of your racial metal
    Needle Mold
    Thimble Mold
    Water Flask

Those recipes should work right now, so let me know if you see any issues.

I also forgot to address fletching kits. I know about the Surefall kit. If I remember correctly that kit was for Karana Rangers only. I'll make that one work with the new system, there will be no change to the recipe to make it, just to the Surefall Kit itself.

For the Fier'Dal Fletching Kit the recipe will remain the same, but will produce a new kit that will work properly.

Both of those changes will go in with the next regular patch. I'm sorry about the oversight and the fact that you won't be able to make recipes that require those two kits until the next patch.

    Absor,

Thanks for coming over and letting us know. Just one thing:

PLEASE add the ability to 'tokenize' the new cultural containers for storage when not in use (or make them collapsible )

    Thanks!!!

Half Elves have forges in Qeynos, Freeport, Surefall and Kelethin.

I'll look into the tokens and see if I can get them added in a reasonable time.

I tried the recipe posted to try making myself a new Fier' Dal sewing kit and it looks as though there may be a problem with the wood elf cultural forge. I put in a small brick of mithril, a needle mold, a thimble mold, and a water....got the message "cannot combine those items in this container type"
I noticed the new rilsteel on the Kelethin vendors so thinking maybe that was my new cultural metal I also tried the recipe using a small brick of that...same message. There are 2 forges a platform apart... 1 was regular and 1 used to be the Fier' Dal forge... same message both forges. There is a new forge down near the bard guild and when I open that one it says my race can't combine in it...obviously that would be the new half elf forge. Any ideas on what happened to the Fier' Dal forge that it no longer works? And 1 other thing... what about the Fier' Dal needle I need? Any recipe for that?

The needle was renamed a while ago to Koada'dal Needle I think it is this one that you will be using now. (What the High Elf's used.)

I know there is discussion in the tailoring threads on this also.

Ok, what about the ogre fletching kit? Some of us ogres want to get over skill 282 in fletching, and there's no way in-game to do so currently, given the drop rates of everything that's trivial over 282, it'd take 2 years of both farming components AND buying up every single component for sale in the bazaar that's useable for fletching over 282.

Please don't let wood elves be the only ones that have a realistic chance to get to 300 fletching. I think it would be sad to see that the first dozen 300 skill fletchers are all wood elves only because they had the good fortune to pick that race 5 years ago. Ogres of rallos zek can fight and make weapons of war too!!

The surefall fletching kit was usable by any Karana worshiper, regardless of class.

The stuff we made our origional racial kit from.

Ok, I am getting confused here:

                        For the racial sewing kits
Combine the following in your racial forge:

Small Brick of your racial metal
                        Needle Mold
                        Thimble Mold
                        Water Flask
The recipe that has always been stated here at eqtrades for the Feir' Dal Sewing Kit (and has worked the entire time) is the following:

1 Mithril Bit ( 2 Small Peice of Mithril + 1 Morning Dew in Cultural Forge)
                        1 Needle Mold
                        1 Thimble molde
                        1 Water Flask

The combine is done in the Feir' Dal Forge.

So, which recipe is it? This is really adding a lot of confusion to the tradeskill container fiasco.

Indeed, when I log in at lunch I will try both recipes and will report back to you unless Maddoc posts a clarification in the mean time.

                          Hi,

Share the frustration as a Wood Elf...

The new way for combining for a Wood Elf Sewing Kit does not work (as reported by others, and tried in every forge I could find in Kelethin). The old method DOES work (as Absor stats in the opening that these recipies have not been removed from game yet). So I think WEs will have to wait until at least the next patch to get the proper kit working in game. Right Absor?

My biggest worry is that since we do not have a Wood Elf (Fier'dal) Needle, but instead use the High Elf (Koada) one for cultural, that somehow this will be broken as well and we will wait even longer to make our leather armor...

...oh well, back to camping in Inner Acrylia for the Master books.

                          Brickhaus

P.S. As a side note, please do not work on tokenizing containers yet until all races are confirmed working. I suspect some other races might be going through our pains as well.

                            Success !!

So I logged in at lunch today and ran my sorry Wood Elf butt to Felwithe and bought 1 Small Brick Mithril and just to be safe I bought 2 Small Peice of Mithril as well.

Ran back to Kelethin and up to the Cultural Forge. I tried the following recipe first:

                            1 Small Brick Mithril
                            1 Needle Mold
                            1 Thimble Mold
                            1 Water Flask

This recipe DID NOT WORK, repeat DID NOT WORK. Absor, please check your recipes before posting , maybe you should check with eqtraders.com, wait, ermmm .

I then created one Mithril Bit using the following recipe:

                            2 Small Peice of Mithril
                            1 Morning Dew

Then I used the following recipe to make my *NEW* Feir'Dal Sewing Kit:

                            1 Mithril Bit
                            1 Needle Mold
                            1 Thimble molde
                            1 Water Flask

                            SUCCESS!

I opened my *NEW* Feir'Dal Sewing Kit and sure enough my cultural recipes were present. I went on to get 11 up ticks in Tailoring, woot!!. Up to 226 now =).

Not sure why my old Feir'Dal Sewing Kit did not work and now this *NEW* kit works (exact same recipes).

Well as they say in development Absor, design twice, code once .

Hope this helps to clear up a bit of the confusion with "some" of the cultural containers. I will definatly try making a new Feir'Dal Fletching Kit before I try combines in it.

Cheers from a slightly less confused Wood Elf,

When will this next patch be? And will it include implementing a Troll Cultural Forge again and hopefully the Troll Cultural Vender? Both were left out in the patch it seems. Atm Troll's can't do anything except get their books together. I think someone said Half Elves had same problem. Are you able to say if these issues will be fixed in the next patch oh masterful Absor Smash? I will bow down to you and feed you grapes and stuff if this gets fixed!
