  • Misty Thicket Problem

Anyone else seen this problem? So far, it's happened both of the last times I made Misty Thickets I'll have enough of each subcombine to make a specific number of combines (120 the first time and 100 the second). Both times, it used more of one ingrediant than the others. Actually, the first time, it used more of 2 ingrediants. I checked the logs on confirmed the number of combines I made, and I bugged it each time. I haven't seen it happening with any other recipes so far. But I'm wondering if it's just happening to me or if other people are seeing it.

This is on Test Server, btw.

Did you have your regular food in a higher level inventory slot? You may have inadvertently eaten some of it. Whenever I bake, I put my food satchel in the bag#1 slot just in case.

I always have food in the higher level slot. Besides, in the small amount of time it took to do 100 combines, I couldn't possibly have eaten 12 or 16 of anything.

It's not the jumjum cake slice (x2 required) catching you out?

No, I had 12 of everything left except the cakes. I had 24 of those. The first time it was marmalade sandwiches and jumjum beer. I had no sandwiches and only 2 beers left. I can't remember what it was the second time. It really was quite odd. After the first time, I grouped all like items together so I could easily count them before it started.

I don't have any salvage AA's (I don't have oow for that account, and besides, I'm still working at the Tanaan AA's *laughs*). I'll be making more misty's this next week and will see if it happens again.

Try grouping them in batches and keeping the bags open so you can watch the quantities as you go. For example, arrange a 10-slot bag to be the one drawn on for ingredients and fill it with a stack of each ingredient (two of cake slices). Keep it open as you combine and watch for the quantities to go out of whack.

Well, I'm not sure but I may have found the problem. My husband said that he's been seeing food being taken randomly from containers rather than just out of the first slot. So, I tried force feeding before I started and after every 20 combines, and I didn't get any loss of products. I'll be continuing to experiment with the issue to see if this resolves.

My only problem with this explanation is that I'm not seeing this happen with other recipes. I make a lot of halas meat pies and hero sandwiches, and I know they have parts that are food items, and I've haven't seen this happen with any of those. But then, I seldom have exact amounts when I'm making those, so it could happen and I didn't notice.

So, I'll continue to be experimenting.

Note for all interested. This is on Test Server, so what happens there isn't necessarily going to happen on other servers. It could just be some wonky code that got introduced on Test but hasn't been pushed out to the live servers. I'll continue to bug this as I see it happen along with the information I've gathered on the problem.

It's also *possible* (attempting to brainstorm, although I KNOW this theory shouldn't work) that maybe it's taking smaller, "snack" things out because you're not hungry enough to need a full meal. Or maybe those items "taste better" so your character eats those first.. a lot like if you have a candy jar and you're a little hungry you'll have a few pieces of candy instead of nuking the cardboard pizza in your freezer.

Just some thoughts, but really doubt I'm right.
