I've never been able to get anything to combine in the blackburrow cask (never actually tried the recipe you're SUPPOSED to do in it..) and while I haven't tried *EVERYTHING* yet, from what I've been hearing from other posts/threads/etc it's quest recipe only.

What I would like to see is a way for the Attunable armor to become unattunable, as we all know, after some time, armor becomes obsolete. When this happens, you have NO DROP armor taking up space, and do you really want to destroy anywhere up to 50kp that you spent on that one piece of armor? Have a vendor sell a solvent or something, much like the ones to remove an augment from armor. This way, you can Un-attune an item and upgrade.

Wouldn't that kind of defeat the point of making it attunable in the first place? Attunable is supposed to be a compromise between no-drop (where you MUST loot it yourself) and tradable (where it keep muddying up the market for years to come, causing mudflation). When an item is attuned, it gets taken off the market, keeping the market relatively clean for new sellers.

I don't think that's going to happen. No Drop items exist for a reason, because they are better quality items than tradeable gear (of the same general level) and can only be obtained through quests or raiding...ie: you have to put in time & effort to acquire them.* Also, because there is no item decay so if No Drop gear was tradeable, there would be no way to take items out of circulation permanently.

(*yes I know that making plat to buy gear, through tradeskills, bazaar trading or 'farming' takes time & effort too, but SOE doesn't equate it with raiding/questing, so let's not go there.)

Now comes OoW, where phenomenal items drop off non-raid encounters, and SOE has even allowed most of these items to be tradeable - to an extent.

Again, there is no item decay in EQ, so the ATTUNEABLE flag allows SOE to please its customer base by dropping nice, tradeable loot, yet still take it out of circulation permanently once the end-user equips it for the first time, and making it No Drop.


Maybe we could propose a new value to the ATTUNEABLE flag or a new flag "A/S" (account shareable) that would permit you to trade such items (even after the no drop flag was activated) to any toon on the same account (via the shared bank slots). By putting not just recommended but also REQUIRED levels on such loot, it would prevent twinkage of low-level alts - only alts of the appropriate level to do the content anyways would be able to use the items, and items that were obtained in zones requiring flags could be excluded from being "account shareable." Unfortunately, I still don't see this happening, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'd actually been thinking about a possible system for making attuned items tradeable again. It would need to be such that it would be unfavorable the vast majority of the time (to preserve the item sink), but it doesn't need to be unfavorable all the time - for rare occasions, it can be worth it.

To keep the system less open to scams, I imagine a two-part process. First there is a cheap_reagent that changes an item from ATTUNEABLE NODROP to ATTUNEABLE UNATTUNED. In UNATTUNED state, it is unequipable by anyone, but tradeable. Then, a second ungodly_expensive_reagent would change the item from ATTUNEABLE UNATTUNED to simply ATTUNEABLE, and thus able to be traded, attuned (and then again nodrop) and worn/used by someone new.

The two tiered approach would be to keep the investment before the player-to-player sale at a minimum. If it was a 1-step process with an expensive reagent, either the seller would have to front that cost (which would make "passive" trading of any form improbable - ie, you're not actively selling something, but you'd be willing to part with it for the right money; also, it would make a seller who is low on cash unable to sell a new item) or the buyer would have to provide the expensive reagent to the seller (openning up scams to get the valuable reagent from people without actually having the item to give them in return). By having an initial cheap reagent, the cost of the trade is low - its a later step that makes it costly.

The expensive reagent would have to be very costly - probably hundreds of kpp, or a rare enough drop that it would make discordant scoriae seem common - to make the process truly not worth it except for exceptional circumstances. Some people would complain the feature isn't worth the time to implement given the amount of use it would get, while some would like the knowledge of the option existing even if they're unlikely to use it.

Overall, I agree it would probably be best if an attuned item stayed No Drop forever. But it doesn't hurt to think about the other possibilities

That sounds like a nice system. You could even add a third potion to make items that aren't normally ATTUNABLE to have UNATTUNED status (i.e. Planar/Elemental/GoD armor) and rescue a small portion of an investment there. Although it might not be as appealing for those, since those are combines that make a class-specific item, and thus, your future user would have to be of that class. Still, it would be nice to get a return on raid points for loot rights to a Mold, or on cash, if you just bought a mold in the Bazaar.

I agree, a special title for people with the seven trade skills at 250 would be awesome, and I would not think it would be that hard to code. Heck, there are not that many, you could even let people /petition to get the title from a GM.

There already is a special title for people with all 7 trades at 250. Expert Artisan.

LOL. No worries.

Maddoc added in 3 special tradeskill titles. Apprentice (all 7 skills 100+), Journeyman (all 7 200+) and then Expert (all 7 at 250).

I'm working my way up now, and can only imagine the work that people did to get them to 250 BEFORE the new tradeskill UI. Some trades are so easy with that (assuming you have the plat of course.) Brewing is a breeze, compared to what it was before.

Does anyone know if there has been clarification on the portable still/brew barrel? IS it in fact a tinkered item? or is it a class specific SPELL? I know what LUCY says, but I dont count on it... to many things change between test and live.

I /testbuffed a druid last week, and she had a level 14 spell that gave a 4 slot brewing container. Don't know if that's how it will be in it's final form. A 4 slotter won't be a heck of a lot of use for any high end brewing. Nice for converting Pods of Water to Water on the run, but that's about it.

Thank you Dunthor. That is the message I was trying to convey. Just didn't come out that way.

What I would like to see though, is a couple items made stackable, since they can be used in the ice cream recipes. Timorous Coconuts and Kiola Nuts. Still not stackable when I last checked. As for the Ice of Velious, either put them on a vendor for about 5-10p per component like they do for other mage components, or find a substitute for it since bakers are in competition for them with mages, and at 2k a pop on some traders, it makes it difficult for a mage to make his 29th pet since a baker has snagged them all first.
