Actually, its their rarity that makes me thankful that they stack. The only pieces I would consider spending my first lightning cores on take 3 or 4 cores - that means when I have 1, 2, and maybe 3, I'm going to be losing multiple slots for a LONG time as I wait to acquire the 4th. This way, I only lose 1 - and I consider the gain of 1-2 slots pretty significant
