  • Making Money on Subcombines (Question)

What subcombines can really rake in the PP? I've come up with the following:
    Leather Padding
    Ceramic Lining
    Heady Kiola
    Picnic Basket

    Thanks for your help!

breaking down velium bricks/blocks to pieces. You can often buy bricks/blocks for the same prices as pieces sell for, and each brick/block yields 2 pieces. Trivial at 30, so not hard to do either.

*Was looking at this after post and it was not at all clear what I was responding to. I am writing this in response to Sharriens suggestion on making Blessed Dust of Tunare.*

I've gone a step beyond this and made the Sacred Tunare Silk. I can't say how much the Blessed Dust of Tunare sells for, but I've had no problems selling Sacred Tunare Silk on Brell Serilis with prices at 100pp each. Been a while since I've done this so not sure if prices have changed, but thought I'd mention it since you mentioned the dust.

In some ways, it really depends on your server. Things that sell like hotcakes on one server may not sell at all on another.

For example, on Innoruuk I can hardly keep tempers and dye in stock. Tradeskills aren't as big a deal on Firiona Vie, and subcombines hardly sell at all, much less for a good price. The reason is ... you can BUY most of the things you can make with tradeskills outright, including quest items like the Blessed Coldain Prayer Shawl. You can even buy some tradeskilling trophies (not all of them -- some of them, like the baker's spoon, are nodrop, even on FV). It can take WEEKS to sell things that would normally fly off the shelves on Innoruuk, such as egg batter, ceramic linings, leather padding, dye, and temper, and at prices well below what I could get for such things on Inny.

So, the important thing is -- study your local markets. Make lists of people selling things at what price and keep track of how many they have over time. You may find that the hot seller on one server is a dud on another. Now, FV has some special considerations, but ... your server may vary.

Exactly. On FV, why bother skilling up all 7 tradeskill for the Aid Grimel earring when you can just farm cash or.. er.. acquire plat thru less then.. er.. well you know what im referring to.. means, and just BUY the earring.

The 1750ers on FV are the ones mass producing Shawls and Signets for sale.

              But back to the question:

If youre a caster, you can probably even sell imbued gems for cultural armor, and X diamond of X (brown diamond of earth etc) with the blood which isnt hard to find on vendors.

All depends on the flavor of the day.
some days padding may fly off the shelves, the next they start to get matty.
One day that freshly filleted meat you have smothered in a creamy sauce may be goobled up, only to find the next day it's gathering fly's.

Naughty, naughty. We shouldn't be talking about goobling on a family site. But I fully agree. There have been times I dumped ten stacks of wolf fillet in cream on my merchant and they were gone in ten minutes, and other times a stack will sit for days. So, here's my list of stuff that seems to move consistently.

                  Celestial essence - 3-4pp each.
LDoN armor tempers - 30-50 dependng which (remind folks it's good for tribute).
Fish rolls (go figure!) - 2 pp a stack.
Halas pie parts - 1-2pp each for meat, 1pp each for dough.
Misty Thicket Picnic parts - cakes, mostly, or salad so people can vendor-shop the rest.

These are the ones I've sold. The others listed above are good things, but I can't personally vouch for them.

you get 1pp EACH for DOUGH ?!?!?!?!?

                    hmmm....

                    1 egg I saved from when I was hunting in JP + 5c flour + 5c milk = 15p

yup... I like that equation... especially when I've got about 6-8 stacks of eggs still and can always go farm more

I haven't been making money on Tradeskills like I'd like to lately, but the chains and sheets for ornate and elemental armor tend to sell well.

I have been working on aid grimmel and actually buying things lately. The most helpful are now and in the past have been:

broken up acrylia/velium or formed into studs, arrow shafts etc.
                        Leather Padding
                        Heady kiola

My favorite I buy way to much of to date:

Ribbons/Dye for cultural LoY robes, I never see silver ribbons, and I would buy them if I did.
                        Swatches for cultural LoY robes
Enchanted Clay/various mana made with poison vials etc

There's three vendors on my server I go by daily that make swatches by means of research for all cultural robes. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! (I cant do research, and I dont' get to all of the zones where these words/runes etc drop) They can barely keep the ones I need in stock atm.

Forages aren't subcombines, but they are always great sellers.
                        Vegtables
                        Mushrooms
                        anything for those dyes
                        Ldon temper and forages

I would stick with the dust and not make the silk since the dust is used not only for tailoring but for smithing as well for the sickle. The demand for the dust is higher than just the silk, although you may get more pps from silks.
