  • Dex increases success. Myth or Fact?

You think Dex helps for success?

I'm not worried about Dex as a skillup tool (leave my main stat for that), but curious as to your success on high trivs w/ high dex.

For months now my mains pottery and smithing skill (252) has held true to the eqtraders (seems accurate enough) calculator in relation to successful combines on high trivial items.

My alts 252 JC skill has not however. I've read from others jc is a different boat. Success seems much lower then like items with same trivial skill.

How true is this? and do you believe in Dex? I dont do lots of high triv to test high dex in the long run. And before I search for Dex gear/buffs on my alt (ench) I would like to hear from you guys.

My mains dex is usually around 160. My alt (jc, ench). 70ish.

    Your thoughts?

I never parsed it, but when my shaman friend and I were maxing JC, it at least seemed to help having a dex buff on.

So I usually had one, and maxed JC quite easily while other friends struggled. My theory is that it does, but it's of course quite possible I was just lucky instead.

Hehe a lot of the time I think it's all just chance. I can be buffed to the gills with KEI and shammy buffs for everything imaginable, and not get a skillup on some tradeskill until suddenly all my buffs drop off.

Supposedly even in those tradeskills with a secondary skill component, it's still the HIGHER that determines success rate. Presumably the rest is just superstition.

Please do the other readers of the board the courtesy of doing at least minimal research before posting a new topic. I don't expect newcomers to be familiar with every issue ever discussed in the forums, but this very forum has 4 threads stickied so they appear at the top of every page and one of them is Sticky: High stat = more skillup NOT successes.

The boards also have an entire forum devoted to Frequently Asked Questions.

One of the posts in that forum is Stats and Tradeskills.

Within that post is the following quote: "Stats have no impact on your chance of success or failure on the combine when practicing tradeskills. (Only your current skill is supposed to impact your chances of success or failure when creating an item.)"
