Inlays..Confirmation of augment return on failure

I am about to do several inlays. Could someone please confrim whether the marked augment is returned or lost on failure. I would like to let my friends and customers know in advance of the combine and can't seem to find confirmation anywhere. Also, if someone knows, when you fail on ignots, do the discordant parts get returned? Thanks

The aug IS returned on Failing an attempt at adding some inlay.

I Failed on adding some white gold inlay to a cleave aug last night. Lost the Inlay, got the Aug back unharmed, with no Salvage AA's
