  • OoW Augments Made Easy :)

Here's something I typed up as there are so many questions in my guild about Augments and such and they are rather confusing

I have it formated for word and am just cutting and pasting so might not look as pretty as when I did and have items highlighted etc. But if anyone wanted to host it would be great

    Step 1: Jewelery
Jewel Craft Combine --- Combine stone of choice with the following in Jewelry Bag

Radiant -- Use fine hydraabrasive and gem cutter --

Brilliant -- Use Hydro Abrasive and Gem Cutter –

Polished -- Use Buffing Sheets and Gem Cutter – Trivial 296

Make a Gem Cutter with the following:
    Metal Rod
    Grease
    Metal Fastening
Standard Bow Cam – Gears & Grease & gnomish bolts
Firewater -- gnomish spirits & water flask
Diamond Dust – Drops off giants in Permafrost (giant respawn 4 hours)

Gem Cutters are a pain to make… but are not consumed thus are returned so only need one 

    Step 2: Alchemy

Combine Polished, Radiant, or Brilliant Stone with the one of the below marks to make a “base augment”

Too combine those two you need to include either: Hydrated Amber Resin or Reduced Amber Resin AND Slugworm or Treanic Acid AND a Dihidral Burin (purchased)

Augments that modify a single stat (ie. “xxxflowstone”) use the Hydrated Amber Resin and Slugworm Acid.
Augments that have regen effects etc use the Reduced Amber Resin and the Treanic Acid.

All the marks are bought from vendors, you must make however the following pre-combines:
Hydrated Amber Resin: Amber Resin – Rosin – Water Flask – triv 61
Reduced Amber Resin: Amber Resin – Gnomish Heat source – Water Flask –triv68
Amber Resin: Amber -- Gnomish Spirits
Treanic Acid: Trean Flies – Jar of Acid – Triv 151
Slugworm Acid: Slugworms – Jar of Acid – Triv 151

Gnomish Spirits: Buyable from Cadin Zharik in PoK
Gnomish Heat Source: Buyable from Rilwind Sitnai in Abysmal Sea

Trean Flies have been dropped by murkgliders in the Hive off Draniks Hollows
Slugworms Have been dropped by Kyv’s and others in WoS and in Drainks Hollows
Could drop else where but this is what I have personally confirmed

    RECAPPING:
So you would combine the following for the aug below:

    Radiant Cut Citrine
    Mark of Sundering
    Treanic Acid
    Reduced Amber Resin
    Dihidral Burin

This would yield --- Radiant citrine of Minor Sundering

Base augments are named (gem and quality) of Minor (mark)
Example: Radiant Citrine of Minor Sundering
    (+6 DS – Cleave 1)

    Step 3: Smithing

You then Need to make a Inlay --- There are two kinds of inlays – White gold gives you the 4th level aug and Black Gold gives you the 5th lvl aug.
    Example:
White Gold inlay on the above mention Radiant Citrine of Minor Sundering would yield:
Radiant Citrine of Sundering – (+6 DS – Cleave 2)
Black Gold Inlay on above would yield:
Radiant Citrine of Pure Sundering (+6 DS – Cleave 3)

You need the following to make the inlays:
White Gold Inlay: Dust of Discord (drop) – Empty Vial – White Gold Ingot – Trivial 307
Black Gold Inlay: Discordant Scoriae(drop) – Empty Vial – Black Gold Ingot Trivial 327

    Kanio Paerk Has the Vials
Cerin Darkbog Has the Ingots (can use find for both in PoK)

Have seen Dust of Discord drop in random zones in OoW – Have not seen Discordant Scoriae as of yet 

    Step 4: Alchemy – AGAIN!!

This step is very simple you just combine the Inlay from #3 and the Aug from Step #2

The catch is… most of these trivial for Alchemy at I believe 241 for the White Gold Inlay combine and over 300 for the Black Gold Inlay.

It is almost pointless to combine unless the combiner has the AA’s to give him a 50% chance. Salvage is also HIGHLY Recommended.

played havoc with my format and tables heh... but the table of augments is listed in a sticky anyhow... I just included for completeness for guild.

send a pm if you want the .doc and I'll send.

Do not send pm's with grammer correction but anything regarding drop locations would be wonderful.

Might want to also mention that the Alchemy steps can use Poison Making instead (and, if the trivials are the same, the Rogue can get to 250 PM instead of the Shaman's 200 Alchemy.)

At least, that's my understanding. I'm neither a Rogue, nor a Shaman...nor an Enchanter (grumble.)

You don't have to be an enchanter to do the JC part. I'm a druidess myself, with 250 skill and a trophy to equip, and am having decent success with the highest (radiant) cuts, currently 5 for 8 tries.

Heh, no. I have JC 250 as well...my grumble was my way of expressing my angst about JCM not being extended to other classes...without going off the deep end about it.

I'll be doing the combines myself, but I seriously doubt anyone (aside from guildies) will ask me to do any. I've seen a few "/ooc Looking for 250 Jewelcrafter with Mastery to do augment combines, paying well." :\

well didnt imply you needed to have aa's with anything.

however since you can lose the augment which sucks... and lose the items for combine... which sucks even more seeing how rare they are. Its reccomended to get an enc.

Also since enchanters have lost most of their business on the old PoP hp rings.... they are more likely to do combines for cash.

My mage is 250jc w/ trophy... failed 3/3 for augments 2nd highest (brilliant). Enchanter I payed 10k succeeded 3/3. Its worth the 10k to me to have that ratio :-p.

What parts are returned on fails at each step?

I assume that if you fail to polish/cut the stone you lose the stone.

After it's cut and you add the mark.. if you fail do you get the cut stone returned?

Similiarly on the final inlay step.. if it fails are you returned the stone with mark?

I know for sure that's wrong, and guessing the other combat effects might be, as well. I created one with a white gold inlay and it is only Cleave II

Anyone have any good experience and know where to find Slugworms/Trean flies and the dust of discord/discordant scorpiae??? I haven't seen really any and don't recall it (although I was dumb and just destroyed most stuff the first several weeks of god) and I've been checking the bazaar and havne't seen any for sale either.

Dust of Decay is a miscellaneous poison ingredient. Dust of Discord is what is used in the inlay.

I've made that mistake a few times when vendormining, hehe.

So... if the trivials for the same combines using alchemy and poison making are the same... and the highest skill for alchemy you can have is 200, and the highest make poison kill is 250... isnt that a horridly unfair boot to the face for alchemists?

Would be except the trivials for alchemy seems to be always lower than the one for poison. Saw a chart somewhere around here showing that with a geerlok, shaman and rogues have a very similar chance for success.
