  • Wisdom Equipment Suggestions for Ranger

    Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with wisdom equipment suggestions for tradeskilling that a halfling ranger can use. I have been unable to find a post regarding this issue and I used to use allakhazam to do refined searches on equipment but now it's a paysite and I have yet to find a website with this feature.

I am currently 43 so would rather enjoy any suggestions for 43 and below and also for 46 and above. (Since it seems the majority of level restricted equipment is at 46 or 51)

Also if the equipment can be hunted by myself or bought cheaply it would be a plus! Since I'm on Morden Rasp and everything in bazaar is going for 1,000,000 times the prize as on other servers. *sighs* What's a halfling to do!

    Thanks in Advance,

    CRoften Papertank

I'm a ranger on innoruuk and with my wisdom gear I can get to about 280ish with VoQ. Some of the cheaper stuff I use in the +7 wisdom jasper rings (platinum jasper i think). I also have the +8 wis acrylia cape (pretty cheap) and the star ruby face mask (+wis and +cha). You should also be able to pick up the japser earring fairly cheaply. For more expensive stuff I have the =15 wis from UP, an ear symbol of the veteran from tactics a solstice earring and my ornate BP. I also roll on wisdom augs in ldons so a lot of this stuff has extra wisom from the augs.

      Okay a couple things here:

      1) yes Allakhazam is a paysite (and considering the quality & quantity of info and the amount of time invested in it, I don't begrude him a single cent). If your not a member, doesn't mean you cannot get the info. Just means advance searches aren't as easy.

      2) Without knowing what you have now, hard to tell what's an easy upgrade.

      3) Also again, without knowing your playstyle/soloability (yes your a ranger, doesn't mean your good at soloing), I cannot recommend specific things to try to get. (i.e. (B)lackend (A)lloy (M)edallions in Runnyeye. Ought to be doable by your level/class. But might be borderline for a ranger not used to indoor dungeon.

      4) Also some tradeskills (i.e. Blacksmithing) can use a different main stat (str). Might be easier initially.

Okay so much for the caveats. General help:

      1) Yes, augs are worth getting, especially if you can put them on something with wisdom already.

      2) Consider setting aside a bag for non-combat armour/items just for tradeskilling (like many people do for cha-raising items).

      3) Geerloks- 'nough said there.

      4) Use the bazaar search and write down the items your interested in. Then use Allahkazams to find out where they came from.

      5) +3 to +5 wisdom on a item (with some exceptions) are going be the best you can get by yourself at your level (probably until your mid 50s). (this maybe outdated, Been awhile since I have played)

      6) http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7830, Shield of Bane Warding, One of the longest, most boring, and at times frustrating quest for non tracking classes there is. For tracking classes, mostly boring at points. (track named, kill, hope right drop is on it.. rinse and repeat). At your level, not possible to do it all by yourself. Best thing to do is announce your doing the quest on your server message board and watch all the clerics/shammies/pallys/bst try to recruit you.

Thats it off the top of my head...

          Words of Wisdom

This is the Blessed Hurricane Compound Bow. Best choice, and I hear it's useful to rangers in other ways. A bit costly if you're not a fletcher, though.

Seriously, though, I'd suggest a tradeskill suit in addition to your regular gear, if any of these (relatively) low cost options isn't better than you have.

Velium Jasper Ring (+7) or Platinum Jasper Ring (+6) if your budget's tight.
Jasper Gold Earring (+3) for each ear.
Acrylia Studded Cloak (+10) for your back.
Cobalt Drake Hide Belt (+8) for your waist.
Velium Polished Quartz Necklace (+8) for your neck.

That's 46 WIS minus what your normal gear has, for less than 2 or 3 K if you farm your own parts. As a 43 ranger, you'll have a bit of trouble with cobalt drakes and rockhoppers solo, but if you're good or get a group, they're not undoable. Foraging will get you the polished quartz and a drake egg, farming acrylia is easy in Dawnshroud, and the rest is buyable for not a lot of money. You'll need to call on tradeskilling friends for the parts you can't build, but the parts themselves won't kill you too often.

If you've got a better budget and your tailoring skill is up to it (or you can corner a skilled Halfling tailor to help), the Halfling cultural tailoring is nice gear for the money and your level. Filling in low slots with pieces of sandblasted chain is also an option if you are or know a smith, since you can forage your own sand verbena. You can easily pick up a few points there if the gear you have doesn't have wisdom on some of them.

Lastly, don't forget that food and drink can help you out. Forage tea leaves in the Karanas and get yourself some Qeynos Afternoon Tea made, and of course the Halflings' favorite, the Misty Thicket Picnic, will help you out. Get a supply of these and read up on force-feeding to preserve them, and they'll add +10 WIS to your tradeskill sessions.

          Good luck, and happy skilling.

At 29 I took up baking as the skill I thought was easiest and a chance to make some pp. It is realitively easy to get to 190 so as to make Halas pies. They sold well in the Bazaar and after a few weeks I had a comfortable bank account.

As I progressed to Misty Picnics I knew I had to raise my wisdom. I sat in the Bazaar and checked each slot one by one with the stat as "WIS". You will be surprised how many items are available with 2-5+ wis on them that go for very little pp.

I made up a backpack full of items that I swap out to raise my wisdom.

I would suggest Glittering Ring of Judgement 20 Wis on one ring is great and they are not lore so you can wear two of them.

Yes, but the GRJ has a level recommendation of 60 and required of 46 on it so he won't be getting the full effect of the ring for quite some levels. Plus, it runs about 10-13k in the bazaar, at least on my server. Once he's planar, he can see about getting into a PoJ tunnels group to farm components, but that's pretty tough even in your mid-50s, unless you have some 65+ in your group.

Silverfish's made a good list of some relatively cheap items. I'd also throw in an Acrylia Studded Mask if you don't have anything better in the face slot. Plus, buy yourself a couple MTP and QAT to equip in your top food/drink slots when combing (just make sure to stuff yourself with nonstat food before and during those long combine sessions).

He's level 43, the magelo is someone's recommendation for wis items.

All good recommendations, just adding that 2 opal encrusted steins for charisma well help you get the most of your buying/selling power
