  • Incorrect Geerlok information in FAQ?

Hello there. I was reading through the faq at this page: http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=42

    It says:

Q: If my skill is 250, would one of these geerlock tools make my skill 262?
A: No, modified skills are capped at 252. In fact, once your skill reaches 242, any skill ups that you get would be meaningless since your skill will be capped at 252.
    Unless I'm mistaken, 240 + ( 240 * 0.05 ) = 240 + 12 = 252. It appears that the text should read "once your skill reaches 240" not 242.

    Yes? No?

    Thanks

somme state that the cap is actually reprsent by a full 8 bits, that would make the cap 256. However no-one at VI can either confirm or denie this as fact or fiction. Some even say that it's actually 252.5, and if you round up, it would be 253.

so, getting that extra 2 points will put you at the cap, and you don't have to worry about it.

Ah, that's an interesting question. All other stats (ie: melee stats) seem to cap at 252, so it's a question of where that mystical cap really is.

        Thanks.

Even if tradeskill level is represented by full 8 bits you can still have 0 in a skill.. 2^8 = 256 -> 0-255... 256 values..

We got (mostly) final word on this at the last Fan Faire. The number is 252.
