  • Tradeskillers - What are you selling?

I've been making stuff for my Bazaar Vendor and have had mixed results and thought I'd ask what others where finding worked well.

I make Blessed Mithril Plate, which is a great item but very slow mover - pity that we can't add augment slots to them! I also make Haze Panther and Black Panther items. The Haze Panther cloaks are my best seller of these items good agi and dex stats! I also make Tae Ew chain but it moves slow too. I use to make the Engraved Royal Velium but with so many doing the Shawl series its hard to sell them for much.

I rarely if ever make any jewelry or pottery items - even with max skill and JCM3. Sort of sad but for these skills at least (and many of the other tradeskill combines) the components are either too rare or actually sell for more than the combined finished product does not even discounting for the failure rate. But I am sure most of you knew this

Lately, I joined EQEcon and have started tracking the commodity market with a view of finding wich commodities are gaining value. Its difficult to track many of them but maybe some of you out there are thinking some of the same things I am...

Anyways, I hope this starts some discussion on the subject - I could use some fresh ideas and views!

I'm selling the full line of high end ogre cultural plate and chain. Fulvous Darkscale, Crimson Darkscale, Blackened Darkscale, Fulvous Darksplint, Crimson Darksplint, Blackened Darksplint. The darksplint (chain) doesn't sell AT ALL, so don't waste your time with it. 5k for 1 sheet, 7k for two sheets, 9k for three sheets is my basic pricing scheme on the items.

I'm also selling tae ew chain tunic and tae ew chain leggings. Those sell ok at about 5k each.

I sell the elemental bows when I can find or buy the components. Occassionally I'll make elemental plate, chain, or silk robes or legs when I can find the supplies. Same with elemental rings.

I don't have a good supply of panther skins, so I don't really mess with that much.

I used to sell the Engraved Royal Velium armor. Made about 300k plat the first month this was out. But eventually other people caught on and my profit margins went down a bunch. That and I trivialed soft fur padding *grin*. There's probably still a decent market for this on my server, I should probably try to burn through the remaining inventory I've got of raw materials.

Haven't really messed with selling anything else at the moment, since I don't need the money currently.

Best seller is Fulvous Darkscale, second best is Crimson Darkscale. I get a lot of questions "can you make Fierce Heraldic?". Sadly no, that ogre cultural armor can't be made by ogres. Although why SoE would choose to make the highest hp ogre armor made by non-ogres and only wearable by warriors is beyond me.

      Tailoring

The only serious profit-maker I'm selling is Robes of Intellect. I collected the research page for a few months, combined them all in one fell swoop, maxed out my tribute, then put the remaining 45ish up for sale. All told, getting to 250 tailoring will have earned me quite a bit of pp, as well as maxed tribute.

On Drinal when I was more active on that server I sold sickles and full mithril when I needed some change. Eventually went to just sickles.

On Quellious I invested a little bit of time and plat and got a brewer to 190, now LDON tempers sell nicely along with leather padding.

I went and made 40 gazillion stacks of picnics a while back - have one bag left, so those move well.

Have a bunch of pieces of Tunarean Soldier - no one's buying them anymore.

GVD's - got a bag of them and no one's touching them.

Slarg Stuffed Poppers - like 6 stacks of them, no one's touching them.

I may do some sickles again, I dunno, if I get bored. But I really don't have anything to spend plat on, so why make more?

I basically put up for sale anything I skilled up with in hopes of making some of the money back and anything that i've looted that i really dont need but someone else could use.

Halas meat pies seem to sell well. Souffles have been doing pretty decent too.
I also have pie pans & filleting knives up for sale but they only sell everyonce in awhile.
I've skilled up a bit on the picnic baskets, when they sell, they sell to the same person (they buy one.. leave.. come back & and buy one more.. ect..), must not be a common item people look for or sell in the bazaar.

I started by GMing brewing and used that to fund my the rest of my tradeskills I still sell KCs but stopped selling QATs because the forage-bots have ruined the market, taking about 15 stacks off the market in disgust (I foraged the tea leaves while farming silks). LDoN and other tempers and tailoring dyes sell well. Sometimes I will put up misty thickets too but mostly make food for myself and friends.

I made quite abit with sickles and golden idols of tunare but the sickles market has been trashed on my server recently. At one point someone had like 60 of them at 750p which is hardly more than cost /sigh.

I have also made money selling fierce heraldic armor. I would like to try and sell the other heraldic for tribute but I am not sure how many are aware of the tribute value (Salubrious Heraldic Breastplate: 22+K tribute, Fierce only 15+K tribute - why is that anyway?). This doesn't fly off my trader but does eventually sell.

Cured ethereal energy, ethereal rings and sheets I try to keep on my trader, that market was pits for awhile but seems to be back, at least for now.

Anyway, I tend to watch what is up and the prices to decide what to sell. When there are alot selling something I tend to stay away. I want to explore more pottery, smithing and tailoring items soon too, maybe some elemental things since I recently gained access to those zones.

One stack of each Enchanted Bar of metal.
One stack of each Mana Vial

These don't make huge amounts of cash and hardly generate any profit at all but are steady earners. I only stock 1/2 stacks for velium bars and purified mana to keep invested cash minimised, I rarely sell more than 5 in an evening so stocking a full stack soaks up too much free cash. One advantage of stocking these items is that sometimes a buyer will scan the rest of my stock and buy something else. I've often seen someone buy some metals and then come back again immediately and buy a geerlok or a collapsed. That's the reason I stock the lower end metals and vials despite their low returns.

              Two of each Geerlok
              One of each Collapsed
              One of each Folded
One of each Anizok when stocks of casings permit
              One Cheirometric Lockpick
              One Gnomish Vanishing Device
              Two Corking Devices

Geerlok market suffers from tinkering tradeskillers dumping stocks on the market. When there are fewer tinkers skilling-up the market recovers slightly. Sewing geerloks sell for higher than the others due to the effort required in finding chitterling barbs but my ranger helps out there.

Collapsed are lore so I can only stock one of each and although they don't sell for much they are steady earners if you can ensure a good supply of coiled springs.

Folded don't sell well most of the time but the market goes through cycles and I often find myself the only stockist for weeks at a time making it worth my time to keep one of each in stock for those periods.

Anizok's are variable, sometimes they sell like hot cakes other times they hardly move. The effort required in getting the casings means that the market has lean patches followed by large bulges of oversupply anytime a open backflag raid has hit PoI. I only make up one of each at a time and keep my spare casings in reserve to cover demand as needed. Generally the minimizers sell the best and the necrotic divining devices sell the worst.

Cheirometric Lockpick do sell but only very slowly. After making my first one I didnt sell it for 2 months so I gave a few away to high level rogues in my xping groups. They showed them off to other rogues on the server and now I sell one a week or so.

Gnomish Vanishing devices should make a mint but not on my server. I have to beg people to take them off me. Not worth making them unless I can get the eye for a stupidly low price (recently got one for 15pp, nearly fainted)

Corking devices are reasonable sellers when the bulk stock undercutters get fed up and leave me alone to trade in peace. Its an easy recipe and sells one a week or so but it only takes one fool to crash the market.

One stack of Innovative Bow Cams
One stack of Molten Bow Cams
One stack of Planar Steel Bow Cams
              Two E'cian Ice Bow Cams
              Two Wind Metal Bow Cams

Bow cams are very variable. If someone is skilling up the high-end bows then I can sell a whole stack in one night. But normally I'm lucky to sell one pair ever fortnight. But when they do go they make a tidy profit so long as you are carefull on the raw material prices.

Well, that's what I generally stock and why.

I just sold out of my 337383733 mistletoe sickles and I hope to NEVER make those again.

faith/spiritstones when I have enough supplies merchant-mined to make it worth my while.

haversacks are my big thing, and tae ew shields when I was still skilling up.

Ceramic focus items only if I have personally looted the stuff, to buy supplies and sell it not worth it.

Mainly haversacks are my only thing now. Now that Maisie hit 1750 I have a lil < hehe> ogre shamaness been playing with, thinking of making ogre cultural just for the fun of it.

Blessed fishing poles for Solstice earring tend to sell well, as well as other things for that quest, like lucky cabbage and demi-sec of champagne.

I've been farming silk lately in EK, so I've made Qeynos tea out of all the tea leaves I've been foraging and that sells well too.

When I have ethereal metal from exping, I turn that into sheets which also sell pretty well. Once tailoring is up, I plan to make cured energy to sell.

My first GM was Pottery and I'm still using it to fund the last three tradeskills I need to GM. I stick mainly with PoP items such as Shields of Valor and Swords of War. Occasionally when I find elemental combine items in the bazaar I'll make those as well. Tier 1 items I make about 2k profit, Tier 2/3 items make about 5k profit, elemental items make about 20k profit. All of this considering I buy 90% of my components in the bazaar.

I originally made most of my bankroll on Elemental bows, buying components, ocasionally taking the hit of failure etc. Now that the market on my server is down to around 20k per Stonewood it's not really worth it aside from using them for tribute. Working on GMing tailoring now and hopefully we'll have a new influx of items from OoW expansion to make.

If you mean actual commodites that sell in bulk, you won't have much luck. Most commodities are decreasing in price this year -- even spider silks. There just aren't as many people skilling up as there were last year. Spiderling silks and veggies are the exceptions, plus a few other foraged items.

But if you mean crafted items and EQ items in general, there are several hot markets. Flowing thought items sometimes appreciate (NOT focus items though). There are fewer people soloing for xp, so farming a zone like Veksar, Droga, Old Sebilis, even Plane of Nightmare and selling the items to level 50ish folks is a good market. If you're organized enough to use EQEcon right you can make good money with research. Most traders find there are too many pages/runes/words to keep track of so they don't even try... which leaves that market ripe for the picking.

I never understood why Blessed Mithril sold so slow at low prices or Black Panther sold so fast at high prices. But I adjusted to it.

Tae Ew chain tunics and leggings fluctuate... sometimes there's lots for sale, then a week or two later there's none for sale. But in the long run the tunics/leggings just keep on selling and selling... you can even afford to buy the tae ew blood vials in the bazaar. This is exactly what you *can't* do with elemental and GoD tradeskills... those few who have access to the zones keep the prices for ingredients too high.

Blue Ceramic Bands (and other bands) are a good idea, and it doesn't matter if you sell them for 10pp, 100pp, or 1000pp... every high level enchanter must have one. I also found an unexpected market for arrows. You can find condensed shadows or even completed arrowhead on merchants in PoK... then sell the completed arrows in bazaar.

Cultural robes are an ok market, as are the dyes used to make them, and the foraged stuff used to make the dyes. But the completed ribbons almost never sell, not even for less-than-NPC-value. Nightmare robes are the only PoP robe that's worthwhile any more.

Solstice earring items are all good and sell in quantity, but the market fluctuates from month to month... just make what other people don't. Grobb drink, Halas pies, and Misty picnics are staples, you can always sell them... but not for any real profit.

A few months back I was buying up velium bricks (but not all of them), chiseling them into stackable pieces, and selling the pieces. The price for pieces was actually higher than the price for bricks. It was like quadrupling my money every week for doing almost nothing. Silly rich tradeskillers. That market crashed after awhile... but maybe it's recovered by now.

Foraged items seem to sell better than crafted items. 10pp per foraged veggies... and they sell out almost immediately! And the rare items go for much more, of course. It's insane.

Personally, I sell mostly mob drops now, or foraged/farmed items, or basics like stacks of padding. Ingredients tend to sell for more than finished products in most cases, so I don't bother to combine. But I still stock Tae Ew stuff, a few robes, occasional Solstice items, and keep my eye out for cheap PoP pottery ingredients.

Lately I wonder what will happen with Omens of War's release. Will lots of folks dump their old level 4 focus items, or are most of those no-drop anyway? There will be new hot recipes of course. But what about PoP stuff... will the supply of PoP ingredients dry up, or will the demand for PoP items dry up? Or both? Will the demand for flowing thought items jump up because of new AAs... or will the supply of flowing thought items jump up because of new drops? It's pretty clear that the market for gate potions will virtually disappear. Beyond that I can't guess... but maybe you can.
