  • Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl

    Hiya folks.

    BE WARNED.

    Sorry for the alarmist post but its frustrating when you find that the triviality is wrong.

    The final combine on the Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl is not 162 which is registered on EQ-Traders Quick Tivial List.

    I failed twice so far thinking it was just my bad luck kicking in to play, but i read the message for the second attempt, rather than just openly taking it on the chin. ( you lack the skill to make this item. ) ( You have failed to combine Blah Blah Blah ).

    This means that the Prayer shawl has a much Higher triviality. I was using a Collaspable sewing kit and a geerlock to increase my skill to 169. this being a total of 7 points above the triv. I should have had a chance to at least complete the item. and for it to happen on the second attempt may me think.

    It certainly seems to be higher than what is registered on the quick triv list under the tailoring list. So be warned i have reason to believe it is wrong.

    Hope this helps some of you perfomring this item. Be carefull, Triviality unknown at this time.

    Malfeas.
    If at first you dont succeed. Theres always next year.

    you don't get a trivial message if you don't succeed.

    Your logic is flawed.

      Um..

      1) Your -effective- skill level doesn't change an item's "trivial" level. (if you have skill 101 and the trivial is 102 and you have a geerlok you still get to skill up on the combine.)

      2) If you FAIL a combine you don't get the "this is trivial" type message. Period. Even if you have a 252 skill and the combine is like a 191 trivial.

      3) The trivial levels for the Coldain Shawls are fairly well documented. I'll trust Verdandi's research over your two attemps, thanks.

      4) This belongs in Quests or, more likely still, Primal Scream Room.

      Yes the Runed is hard. And usually the first really "expensive" failure.

      But ...

      success = skill + 51.5 - (.75 * trivial)
      success = 167 + 51.5 - (121.5)
      success = 97

      So you can expect to succeed 19 out of 20 times. Two failures is unlikely but certainly possible. You have a 159 skill (working backwards from 167 effective with geerlok) so it's even possible for you to gain skill when you finally succeed. Got my fingers crossed for you.
      In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
      I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

        And finally...

        Geerlok's do NOT affect the trivial level either. if your ACTUALL skill is less than the trivial, even if a geerlok brings you over it, you can actually learn from it... And the messages you get will reflect that fact. So for all intents and purposes it is NOT trivial to you yet, despite you having a higher *effective* level.
