  • which skill would be easiest to get to 200 ?

Iam looking for a way to receive a +50 charm range item and was told that they are the product of the grandmaster combine that can be done at a skill of 200. Iam now looking for somebody who would be so kínd to explain a little non-tradeskiller like me how I could achieve this I dont care which tradeskill that might be, as Iam not planning to further advance my skill after a succesfull combine of the charm range item. The most important part would be that its not very expensive though, as I have a total of 10k plat on my hands.

    Please help

Trying to complete the trophy at skill of only 200 is likely to cost you a lot more than 10k.

would you suggest me to get my skill higher then 200 then ? Is it possible to get brewing above 200 without any bigger problems ?

Where can I find information how the trophy is made ?

You can find it here on these boards eqtraders.com in the recipe section. Look under brewing and then you should see the Grandmaster corking device I believe is what it is called. Usually, you have to get your skill to 250 I've heard to have a successful combine. And sometimes even if you're 250, it is not always successful.

Something that you ought to understand is 'trivial'. An item that is considered to be trivial is one in which your skill is higher than the item requires.

You are least likely to fail on an item that is trivial BUT you will always have a 5% chance of failing no matter how high your skill is (ok, there are a few exceptions but they don't apply here anyway).

However, you always have at least 5% chance of succeeding as well. I succeeded on a combine with a 335 trivial with a 209 skill. Now, I also failed 27 times to get that 1 success but thats the game So when somebody tells you they got their grandmaster item with a skill of some extremely low number, its possible but they were either extremely lucky or failed quite a bit.

Now, on a grandmaster item, the trivial for all of them are above 250. The very highest you can get your skill is 250. Therefore, there is a definite chance of failure. However, the closer you get to 250, the less of a chance you have.

As a side note, brewing is the easiest / cheapest to get to 250 but, the combine for the grandmaster's cost more than the rest unless you have access to a tinkerer to make the corker for you. My suggestion would be to look into baking. If you put a little effort into it, it will be almost as cheap as brewing to get to 250 and the final combine will cost you approximately 1k less (on my server at least). Considering you probably want to plan on failing at least once, it might be worth it.

              Grandmaster's Trophy

Getting a grandmaster's trophy is not easy, nor cheap. You may have trouble getting it with twice as much as you currently have, or you may get phenomenally lucky and do it in half that much. Be ready to spend time or money (and sometimes both) and you'll get there eventually.

Firstly, a taste of the prize: the item you want to look up is the Grandmaster Brewer's Corker. That'll be the easiest/cheapest trophy to get. It's still not cheap, but it's the best of the seven. Take note of the parts it requires (the corking device and the Artisan's seal) and look up what's needed to make those items. The corking device must be built by a tinker, and the artisan's seal will require the help of an enchanter, a jeweler and a potter. You can buy these items in the Bazaar under most circumstances, but it's cheaper by far to get the parts and find assistance in getting them built.

Secondly, you'll need to look up these recipes, which you'll use to get your skill up to 240 or higher so you'll have the best possible chance to make your Corker.

              Fetid Essence
Shar Vahl Essence or Faydwer Shaker
              Minotaur Hero's Brew

These three recipes will get you to 248, which is more than enough. Fetid essence is simple to make and cheap as well. Shar Vahl Essence is very cheap, but you'll need to go find ground spawns of payala fruit to do it, so it'll take up time. Faydwer shakers can be made from storebought stuff, but will cost much more than Shar Vahl essence. Minotaur Hero's Brew is a big combine, but again it's all storebought, so it's relatively painless to do. Be prepared to do a LOT of clicking, and visit the "Learn a Skill" section of this site to get hints on making it go faster (like getting your INT/WIS as high as possible).

Once you get to 240 or higher skill, you can get yourself a Geerlok Fermentation Device, equip it (which will give you 252 modified skill, which is as high as it ever goes) and try to make your Corker. If you fail, get another corking device and artisan's seal and try again until you get it.

Good luck, and happy brewing! Enjoy your plus 50 CHA, and note that the Corker can make a 10 giant slot 100 percent weight reduction bag as well, which is a nice bonus.

You can skill up brewing to 248 (if I'm remembering correctly) with storebought ingredients. I think I did it up to the 180s in Freeport then did Minotaur hero brews shuttling between PoK and West Freeport. Just load up your inventory with components and click away!

Baking is also pretty easy, but after patty melts trivial it a bit more of a pain because the high end recipes require dropped or foraged items.

Jewelcraft is storebought to 250, but gets expensive in the mid 100's.

Brewing is storebought to 248. Doesn't get expensive, just tedious.

Fletching is storebought to 250, gets expensive over 202, gets really expensive at about 236.

Smithing is storebought to the low 100's and gets tough rather quickly in the mid 100's. Huge pain over 188.

Tailoring isn't storebought, and is always a pain.

Pottery is storebought and easy to 122 and not too bad to get up to 188 or so. Gets more expensive but still mostly storebought over that.

Baking is storebought well into the 100's, then gets to need foraged or camped items higher up, but if you pick the right recipies, you can minimize that content.

After that Ill pick up baking for fun, but without the rush of getting the grandmaster combine.

As a bard, you can forage... If you haven't already, tie forage to one of your hotkeys, and to one of your left/right arrows. Foraging will GREATLY help your baking. Common forage you will need for some baking, vegetables. Then, try to keep the uncommon forages until you come to EQTC and do a search on them to see if you need them, or might need them.

As far as cost to get GM brewing, it's very minimal. To actually get to 248 I used:

Fetid Essence: 1 Fishing Grub + Water Flask (122)
                        Ol'tujims Fierce Brew: 1barley Hops + Malt + Yeast + Water flask (135)
Faydwer Shaker: 1 Dwarven Ale + Elven Wine + Gnomish Spirits +Mead + Cask (188)
                        Minotaur Hero's Brew: Cask + 3 Malt + 2 Short Beer + 2 Water Flask + Yeast (248)

All store bought ingredients in PoK. Short Beer is the only one you will have to travel across to SH to get it. Minimal cost, the only thing that costs is for a Tinkerer to make you the cork, which goes for around 1k on my server, and the Seal, which is around 5-8k on my server. The Artisans Seal is easy to make but you don't want to move above the one tradeskill as you said.

When you do Mino Brews, do them in Halas. One room has all the ingredients. With the new TS window thingy and stacking casks, it'll be too easy.

If your Halas faction is shot, Abysmal Sea and Shadowhaven have all the items in the same zone as well.

I did mine in Shadowhaven, pre-GOD, and you may still want to consider it since you can raise faction through quests and the zone is less laggy than Abysmal can be. Abysmal is a great zone for tradeskilling, though, so it may benefit you to get familiar with it!

Also, for MHB's, Cabilis has 2 vendors side by side with all ingredients except water, which is one zone over in West Cab. Just for those lizard brewers
