cutoff to learn high recipes

When the new UI came out, I seem to recall reading that some learnable recipes would not be learnable until your skill gets close enough to the trivial. Only when your skill is maxxed will you be able to learn the toughest recipes that still have trivials far beyond 250.

My question is, before you reach 250, what is the range of trivials above your skill that you can still learn? So for example with a baking skill of 200 (210 modified), what is the highest trivial recipe I could learn?

I don't remember reading that anywhere. I only remember something similar about autolearn recipes. That is to say, you would only see autolearn recipes after you had gotten within 50(?) points of the trivial.

Of course, this is all from memory, so I could be completely wrong.

My baking was 210 at the time I did hero sandwiches. The triv. on that is 295. While it was not on my list, I was able to experiment with that recipe. Once I had successful combine I was able to learn the recipe and put it in my favorites list.

At 224 (235 effective), I've been able to learn some of the cultural BD armor combines, which trivial at 335 (Brellium Platemail Bracer and Underfoot Platemail Bracer - I haven't done any other pieces since the new UI went live).

You don't learn the recipe until you successfully combined it once. Some recipes, however, are not learnable (EVBs for example).

You are probably thinking of the recipe list, and that it will not show you recipes that are too far above your trivial level. So at skill 50, it will show you items you can make up to 75, but not something to make at 200 (made up numbers.)
