  • Newbie Question...where can i store stuff?

Is there a bank or something where i can store stuff i wont need for a while? i'm starting on my tailoring and smithing skills, and it would be nice if i had a place to store ore or other things that are to heavy to lug around all the time, and i'm tired of being encumbered all the time. anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Kevin

In your home town use the "find" button or type "/find". You get a large list of guildmasters merchants and one ore more "banker" click on one, click "fand" and follow the mystical path. Then click the banker and voila - 8(+2 shared) slots in the bank AND you can store money too

Banks are in all cities and sometimes out in the open or even in dungeons

On the other hand you could just follow the tutorial

It's actually a good idea to follow the tutorial. You get a very nice charm for doing it, and you get a free backpack, some free stat food, and a few gold pieces to get you on your way. I always do it with all my new toons for that alone. Plus, it's a great way to meet people. I get groups within seconds of entering it.

Something else to add, if you store something in the bank of one town, it will be available in any bank in any other town as well. So, if you bank your ore in Freeport and then want to do your combines in PoK, you just go to the bank in PoK to withdraw what you want.

Backpacks fit in the bank, to maximize your space you will want to put a backpack or toolbox (10 slot, found in PoK) in the spaces of your bank and then fill those up

Specifically deluxe toolbox for 10 slots. There are regular toolboxes that just have 8 slots. I know the deluxe ones are sold in PoK (Plane of Knowledge), but probably sold elsewhere, too.

Gnomes in Iceclad *I've heard* are the only other place to get deluxe boxes outside of PoK.

            Never confirmed myself.

A lot of people I know also use Trader Satchels. Its cheap, sold in the Bazaar (where you could find other ingredients you need), and they are 10 slots. They are NO DROP though and can not be placed in the shared bank slot. Not the greatest option but I thought I would suggest it.

But trader satchels are HEAVY, 10 or 20 stone. And as you said, they are No Drop.

Deluxe toolboxes cost about the same (both containers are only a plat or two), are much lighter (1 or 2 stone), and are droppable. And I'm pretty sure they'll hold items up to "giant" size.

                  Both hold giant.

I use a combination of deluxe toolboxes and trader satchels for everything in my bank, on the off chance I might want to sell in the bazaar.

Remember to save an open slot or two for when you start tailoring handmade bags and backpacks (slight weight reduction) and bearskin potion bags (your first tailored 10 slot bag, small only, good for spell reagents and food though). It feels foolish to make one and then stand around with it on your cursor until a friend comes by to hold it for you. . .not that I know about this personally.

LMAO - been there, done that. The other reason for leaving a space or two in the bank is to allow for no-drop quest containers.

Also remember that the shared banks slots (the two extra slots at the bottom) will accept containers too so long as they are droppable. Personnally I keep two Deluxe Toolkits in my shared slots at all times. The first of which contains a stack of food, a stack of water, a Chipped Bone Rod, a 10 dose Sow Potion and a pair of Opal Encrusted Steins. The food, water, bone rod and SoW potions are to speed up corpse runs and the stiens are to improve npc vendor prices, keeping them all in a box in the shared slots allows me to access them from any of my alternative characters and avoid having to store such emergency supplies for each one.

Quite a lot of trade skillers have a dedicated bank character and a dedicated trader character. This permits you to keep you main characters bank slots open for quest items and no-drop equipment and supplies. You keep all your tradeskill supplies on the banking character and only draw on the supplies when you need them. Having a seperate trading character helps as well as you can pass finished goods to them via the shared bank slots and avoid having your main character having ever to enter the bazaar at all, saves a lot of time running back and forward at the beginning and end of the days play.
