  • Chace of Successful Combine

As far as the inherent 5% (or whwatever it is) chance that any combine will fail on something
that is trivial, does increasing your skill beyond the trivial skill level
decrease the chance you will fail on the combine?

If not than theoretically someone who is GM of the skill doing a lower level
combine will fail as much as someone who has kept their skill at the
    absolute minimum trivial skill level.

Yes, there is a formula somewhere which states for every so much over trivial you are, you are a certain amount less likely to fail. Its to the point that at 200 points over trivial, the combine is no fail. Now, I know its a vague answer but it does answer your question The formula is on the boards somewhere if you really cared.

There is this thread called "skillup formula"
      http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=15638

but that deals with wether or not you will increase your skill on a combine, not if the combine will be successful or not.

I looked to see what you are talking about before but I could not find the information. That is why I made a new thread.

So if the combine is trival at 88 persay you would need 288 skill in order for you to be sucessful everytime?

The answer you seek is in the FAQ Forum. See the post What sort of success rate should I expect?.

And... Aditionally we have been told (by Tanker) that... for every 50 over the trivial the chance of failure decreases by 25%.

so... using the trusty calculator at http://www.eqtraders.com/calculators...r=130000000000

          All items trivial 88
          skill 88: Success chance = 73.5% (Failure 26.5%)
          skill 110: Success chance = 95% (Failure 5%)
          skill 138: Success chance = 96.25% (Failure 3.75%)
          skill 188: Success chance = 97.5% (Failure 2.5%)
skill 238: Success chance = 98.75% (Failure 1.25%) (this is the best you can get on an 88)
at skill 252 you will still have that 1.25% chance to fail
