  • On the prowl for VEGGIES

    Greetings!

Along with the expansion GoD and the additional quest (breakdown in communications) is the need for Lots-O-veggies. I have dusted off an old 53 ranger, and I am on the hunt for the zone with the best drop rate of vegetables compaired to all the other possible drops.

I searched the forums before posting and found an old post in which one person said Freeport was the best veggie foraging grounds. Another post said that someone had done the work and calculated out the % per zone of common drops, but that link was broken.

Can someone pass along your favorite veggie foraging location? Thankee much!

There's a merchant in PoK selling "Freshly Cleaned Vegetables" ... kinda odd you can't use those veggies for most Baking and Brewing combines .

It's Freeport for me too. But I think any original starting city that does not have a rare in its forage table will do.

If you're not afk while you're foraging, why not try Kaladim and pick up some ground spawns for Kaladim Constitutionals while you're at it?

Yep starting cities and the bazaar seem to be the best for getting lots of veggies. The only trick is being places where there are no special forages in the table so anything not on this list : http://www.eqtraders.com/sources/sou...r=110070000000

I remember the post about the location stats but I never really felt like any zone had proportionally more or less roots and berries than veggies. As long as you are foraging all the time (see elsewhere for attaching a hotkey to movement keys with autoinventory) you will gather veggies pretty quickly - maybe not as fast as you would like but pretty quickly.

The other thing to do is ask for them. I gave given away many backpacks full of them and I know a few other foragers that will /ooc free roots, berries, veggies, fruit, and water pods almost everytime they enter a zone.

LOL just because I collect stuff all the time doesn't mean I want to keep it.

I have an Iksar as my bazaartradebot. Every time I log him on I click forage. I also check prices, buy stuff, etc, so I'm online with him for a while doing stuff. I have managed to get a stack of vegetables (among other things) over time just clicking forage while doing other things.

I like having a forager as my trademule.

It's probably absolute coincidence, but I was in City of Mist a couple of weeks ago, and just about every other forage was vegetables.

I was only there a couple of hours though, so it could easily just be the RNG. I would agree that going anywhere that has just the standard forage table is your best bet.

I get tons in WC...you also get Plains roots there (as the only special?) so you can be all ready for tailoring ribbons too

I'm fond of HoHB for foraging, the only 4 things on the forage table there (that I've gotten in over 1000 forages) are vegetables (which you want), Phoenix Eggs (useful for mephit meat pies), Roots, and Pods of Water.

Curious if anyone else has noticed, or if I'm imagining things, but whenever I'm hungry, I seem to forage a food product and whenever I'm thirsty I forage a pod of water. If that's the case and the bazaar is a good place to forage, wouldn't a good set up be to get hungry (but not thirsty) and set up trader while foraging? A side benefit would allow you to check for sold veggies in the bazaar.

The item you forage IS affected by whether you're hungry or thirsty.

The problem is that when you forage your veggies when you're hungry, you eat them!

I have found the best place to forage vegetables is PoT-I get maybe 3 out of every 5 forages when I am in there making the rounds of the vendors, and when I Need veggies for something, I always go there, and can absolutely count on getting them there.

Agreed, Temple of Marr (HoH-b) is probably the best zone to forage in for
veggies. Just park yourself of the west wall behind the fountain and you
can sit and forage to your heart's content. There are actually 5 items on
the forage table though for HoH-b:

                          - Pod of Water
                          - Root
                          - Vegetables
                          - Heartfruit Walnut
                          - Phoenix Egg

                            Not strictly related...

But some people in other forums have asked for a "forage filter" which would allow them to ONLY forage for specified items.

And I keep pointing out that it's unlikely, and would only result in a higher failure rate or longer refreshes. (And would amount to a "auto-drop what I find and don't want" filter.) And I said "just collect all the junk you get, someone will want it eventually."

When my taxi/forage bot halfling druid made about level 29 I gave away a full bank of foraged stuff. Took about 15 minutes in West Commons.

Yesterday a good friend of mine who's MUCH better at this game than I (he's one HoH-trial away from Elemental, while I barely have 2 real flags and PoN-hedge done) gave me a SERIOUSLY nice hat. (Because he'd just gotten a Vex Thal hat that was even nicer.)

Then he said, ever so casually...

"Gosh, if I just had about 50 or so more veggies I could max out my baking skill...."

Did I mention TaxiBot and TheWife had been supplying him with Morning Dew and Sylvan Berries for... well a long time? And I already mentioned I'm a pack rat...

So I said "well lemme log over to my druid, I either a) gave them all to my wife for baking and she used them last year or b) I have a toolbox full or so"

Turned out I only had 191 veggies (had to keep ONE for myself so I can keep my inventory straight) to give him.

Yeah, don't faint .... 191 veggies. Now go over to the Primal Scream forum and explain the error of a "don't hand me junk" foraging filter to it's advocates. Then wander around newbie zones and find hard working lowbies who probably have sacks of the stuff and don't realize it's selling for 5pp+ each in the bazaar. You will find untapped resources of veggies... and they will swim in, for them, rivers of free plat.

*Level 7 druid* "You want to pay me HOW much for -veggies-? ... DEAL!!"
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.
