• Grand Master, Master, Apprentice etc.....

Could someone please tell me if it is posted someplace regarding the different titles in skill work? I see people listing Grand Master, Master, Apprentice and other titles but don't know how you determine what you are when your skill is under 100, I know what GrandMaster and Master are.

Yeah you know I was kinda wondering too. Basically wondering if it is appropriate to call myself a GM Brewer and Potter because I have skills over 200 in both. Or if it really is only accurate to say I'm a GM Brewer or Potter when my skill is at 250.

I guess I always thought apprentice would be a skill of less than 100, master a skill over 100 and GM a skill over 200. Not sure how others view it though. Am curious to see....

Master (>100) is the only one recognized by SoE (Verant). Before Kunark, a Grandmaster was someone who had maxed their skill. At that time, the skill cap was 200. When Kunark was launched, there was considerable debate on these boards (well, OK, the old ones) about what terminology to use. Those who were GM in ALL (or several) tradeskills wanted to keep the old skill level. Eventually, it came to mean max skill (250) for the majority of the tradeskillers.

I know that many people use Apprentice to denote <100. I like the term, since it denotes an orientation or commitment to that tradeskill.

I know a lot of people who use GM to indicate skill over 200. Or alternatively skill high enough to make trophies.

I personally feel if I have a grandmaster trophy, it's fair to call myself a grandmaster in the particular trade.

I like the Grand Master for 200

I say something else be added for hitting 250, not 249 - 250. But what should it be...? How about lunatic! Just kidding about the lunatic thing. Serious about a new title for a 250 skill.

What about... bah, it is late and I am tired. Someone else think of a new title heh.

I prefer that people just call me Sir...fortunately enough, that's also my current AA title.

This question is coming up a lot lately.

It comes down to personal preference.

Currently the only tradeskill "title" recognized by Sony Online Entertainment in EQ is Master. Master is what it says in your skill list once you have reached 100+ is a skill. No other official title exists.

Many people have decided they prefer different titles, and so use other titles based on their own choices.

General practice seems to be that people with 200+ in a skill call themselves a Grandmaster. Some people think on one with a 250 skill should call themselves that. Again, a matter of personal preference.

SOE might not directly recognize Grandmaster as a 250 tradeskiller, but indirectly they have already done so with the tradeskill trophies, which are all named something with Grandmaster and they can not be combined with a skill 201, as far as I know.
The fact that they are not trivial at 250 also gives a hint to what SOE think is a Grandmaster.

i personally, would consider anyone with a modified skill of 250 a GM (240 skill with +5% skill mod item, gm trophy or geerlock or 220 skill with a 15% skill mod item (smithing)).

I've seen some people with 250 use the term 'Artisan,' it seems pretty appropriate.

As Lothay put it its all a matter of personal preference since the in game titles stop at Master, skill 100+, the Grandmasters trophy cant be attempted below 200 skill (I think min skill may be a couple of points higher than 200, but Im not certain, I was in the 240's when I made mine) and many people tend to view GM status as being 200 plus. Personally I use the in game titles that are listed on the screen until the skill of 250 at which point I use the GM term

I like the idea of 200+ being a Grandmaster and then 250 being an Artisan. But what do we call the crazy people in the 1750 club? Besides Crazy that is....Grand Artisan comes to mind.

Myself, I will be a Grand Master in my mind at 240, adjusted 252.

When people ask for a GM, I will respond and say I am one at that point, it is none of their business if modified or not.

When I hit 250, I will say I'm a 250 bonified unmodified GM, or something similar bragging about that monumental achievement.
