  • EVB not displaying in known recipes

Last night I took a giant step and sunk my 3-6th AA points into Crafting Mastery so I could raise another tradeskill over 200. I had gotten smithing to 200 doing Enchanted Velium Bits soon after that recipe became available but I don't recall if that was before the new UI was released.

In any case, I entered both 'velium' and 'enchanted' into the search box but the recipe for EVBs didn't display. I did a manual combine just to make sure I was successful using the new UI, closed the forge and reopened and still no recipe showed up so that I couldn't use the new UI.

Is there something special about EVBs? Fleeting Quiver and Arctic Wyvern recipes show up though my tailoring is at 199, way below their trivial. Does anyone have an idea why this item doesn't appear in so that I can use the new UI. Maybe it is has something to do with producing a lore item?

Luckily, the recipe has only 4 components and I was able to get to 213 with only 160 manual combines at 255 WIS. Though I did finish with an unlucky streak on the next 40 combines, it was nothing compared to the poor soul on the smithing board stuck at 214 with no skillups on 400 combines.

Because it is part of a quest, not part of 'normal' smithing it will not show up on the new UI recipes. it was not intended to be part of the normal skill path, but they (SOE) underestimated the sneakyness of the player base again heheh.

The unspoken context to these replies is that not all recipes can be learned in the new UI - you can succeed a hundred times and it won't appear in the list. Perhaps you weren't aware of that.

And I believe SOE has been asked to change this particular one, because it is used so much. They may or may not in the future make it learnable

They've had a policy of "no quest recipes" using the interface, as they don't want to trivialize various quests. Hard to tell which way they'll go on this one ...
