  • Foraging skill ups

Does anyone know if you have a greater chance of skill up on a sucessful forage than an unsucessful one? i.e. does forage skill give the same 2nd chance thing that tradeskills do. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time to get the machette or not.

Assuming that all skillups follow the same formula as tradeskills (which may or may not be correct) the machete would help.

    But I really don't know. Couldn't hurt.

        Foraging Machette

        Foraging Machette

        ma·chete
        Pronunciation: m&-'she-tE, -'che-; -'shet
        Function: noun
        Etymology: Spanish
: a large heavy knife used for cutting sugarcane and underbrush and as a weapon

Machete is spelled wrong in the item name. If you've ever seen a movie where someone is using a large knife to clear away brush, small trees, vines and that sort of thing, usually in a jungle, that's what it is.

So, the question is, does foraging follow the same formula?

My understanding is that all skills follow the same formula.

Foraging is a trade skill? I always equated it to say... swimming or one of the other skills/abilities we get.

Foraging isn't really a tradeskill. It is a class or race skill really. We just cover it here because it's so darned useful to tradeskillers.

My interpretation of what I've read is that every skill follows the same concept as tradeskills - there's a primary stat, difficulty modifier, etc. - I've heard that weapon skills are based on Dex (I notice higher skillup rates when combat buffed, so I'd bet if it's not dex it's str) and they seem to level relatively quickly. Green mobs would be "trivial", so don't give you skillups. I don't have my pick locks up high enough, but I'd venture to guess that a rogue notices a skillup on picklocks every 20 tries or so as they approach 200.

Could be wrong though. I play every class, but most are too low, and even then one person is DEFINITELY not an appropriate sample size, even with 16+ chars.
