New to Tradeskills

Hello Tradeskillers

After playing Melee for 4 years and not interesting myself in tradeskills (except when I got my tailoring to the lofty hights of skill 17 ) I am now playing a Necromancer and enjoying it alot.

I play in a duo with my wofe who is also a necro and has decided to go into spell research.

I wanted to ask you what tradeskill I could take up to make a reasonable/good profit on?

My bankroll is quite healthy.

Welcome to our obsessive corner! The standard answer is that every tradeskill will likely do more to drain your bank account than build it up.

I would advise that if you simply want to get a feel for tradeskills, you might start first with one of the easier skills where you can largely level up by vendor bought goods: brewing. If you can handle the never-ending clickfest that is skilling up to, say, 188, in that, you will have an inkling of what you're in for in any of the skills.

Check out your bazaar, but realize that the high end tradeskill products (ceramic totems, cultural armour) is expensive and rare for some very good reasons (high levels of difficulty, rarity of components). It's best to pick a tradeskill that you can farm materials for yourself unless you really want to see that nice bank account drain away with your skill still south of 220!

You might also look into the Thurgadin shawl quest -- it rewards skilling up in many tradeskills with the final result of the 8th shawl (but even the other ones along the way can be gratifying). It's open to any class/race combo (as long as they haven't trashed their Thurgadin faction, in which case, you'll just have to kill a lot more giants), just in case you're worried!

THIS can not be stressed enough. As it has been said many times on these forums, tradeskills take a large fortune to possibly make a small fortune
