  • Ceremonial Solstice Robes and Looms

Ok, I've done some searching...and all I found is some old posts about all PoP combines being unlearnable...which doesn't answer my question, so...

Are Ceremonial Solstice Robes learnable? And why are all of the looms (Tanaan or normal) showing up in my Tradeskill window as a "Sewing Kit" instead of the proper name?

I was doing a run of 500 CSR attempts yesterday, and was doing fine on the subcombines, but when I go to combine the robe, it wasn't in my list...I could have sworn I learned it before, but I figured I was misremembering. So I combined on the old-fashioned way. No "you have learned..." message. Then I noticed that it didn't say "Tanaan Loom" or even "Loom" in the tradeskill window...but rather just "Sewing Kit". I checked looms in PoK, SH, and Bazaar. Same results.

Am I just out of luck? I'm on the Innoruuk server, btw.

A bunch of "quest" recipes are not learnable... and the whole solstice earing is a quest so...

It may be posible to ask SOE to change that

As for the loom thing, not sure... have not checked in a while...

I recall reading a post somewhere, where one of the developers (Maddoc?) said that they were considering adding some of the quest recipes to the "learnable" list, because they were consistently being used as skill up routes (e.g., EVBs.)

The pottery pieces for the solstice earring (Golden Idol of Tunare, Star Ruby Encrusted Stein) can be learned, I doubt the other pieces can't. The final combine in the forge can't be learned, which does make some sense.

The parts you mentioned have stats and are useable, so have purpose beyond the quest.

So does the robe (ok...maybe USEABLE is a stretch):

I was working on solstice robes 7/1 and unfortunately succeeded. I was able to learn the recipe and use the Tradeskill UI after that.

Is it unfortunate because you get the chain back on a failure?

it's common when someone announces they're starting on sol robes in tailoring to wish them 'many failures but many skillups'. : p. You WILL lose 58p on a failure... you MIGHT "lose" 315p on a success. The markets for these are miserable (duh), tribute is even more miserable (ow), yet people keep doing them : P. Go figure.

so yes, success can be seen as 'unfortunate'.

Yep, I remember the time when I had to cut off my solstice robe combine habit... because I was getting just too darn successful.

Solstice robe making is so contrary, I find it amusing.
