  • Getting to WW for Dragon Eggs

    Hi,

I'm trying to make some Blessed Fishing rods and needed the dragon eggs to do so. I am a druid and I was advised to try using Succor to get across Sirens Grotto over to the WW side of the zone.

I did this last week and landed right on top of some mobs but they didn't aggro and I was able to zone into WW unharmed. However, last night I tried it again whilst accompanied by a Bard (who was singing an invis song though I dont think thats relevant). Again, we succor'd onto some mobs but this time they aggro'd and we were dead in seconds.

Was there some fluke reason why I didn't get aggro'd the first time or did something go horribly wrong the second time? Is there any safer way to get to WW for those pesky eggs?

    Thanks
    - Rheyan

That's how I always do it - the only other alternative is to run through Siren's Grotto instead of succoring and relying on being invis the entire time.

That said, I had the same problem right after a server reset on Sunday. Succored across right into some aggro mobs and the helper mobs - I was lucky enough to zone out to WW before I got fully smushed. I was the only person in SG and WW after the reset and I didn't see any fresh corpses, so I am wondering if a few mobs moved that used to be trapped in walls and now the trip to WW is more hazardous (call me paranoid).

I first went to WW 2 years ago, and have never been aggroed at the succor point in Siren's Grotto (not that I go a lot, but every now and again).

I don't go often but have never been agroed at the succor point either. There were usually mobs there but they were nonagro. I would guess that someone might have trained the zone with some agro mobs that then jumped on you. But that's just a guess.

There is a wandering mob that can agro you that paths thru the evac point in Sirens Grotto.

problem is the walrus's (sp???) will assist it. I guess you were just unlucky that the wanderer was within agro range.

Of the 10-15 times ive been to WW in the last few months i've been attacked twice. /shrug it happens.

            yeah, it is all luck.

Also, you could have been at the tail end of a train.

but there is one mob that wanders though, and you just have to hope it is not wandering right there. (I have done it SOOO many times I lost count. Probably nearing 100 or so, mostly done it safely except the few times there has been a train remnant there)

Unfortunately, that doesn't work. My husband's enchanter using fixed duration invis can con the mobs in the water at the zone, be indifferent when invis, and as soon as you get in the water they agro. Don't ask me why. It might be a bug.

Basically the only way across is either to fight or evac.

I believe mobs in the water always con indifferent to somebody on land. It's not until you actually get in there with them that you can see whether they're actually ready to tear you into little pieces.

                  Be Brave.

                  Unfortunately, that doesn't work.

It works fine. I've done it hundreds of times.

Get invisible. Swim across to the island area on the left.

Hug the wall and jump in the water at the southwest edge of the island, behind the two seahorses. Swim through the tunnel until you come out at a pool with a waterfall on one side. One seahorse might aggro you along the way.

The edge of the waterfall is a safe spot. Reinvisible there if you got bonked along the way. Jump off the waterfall and follow the left hand wall all the way to the zone-out.

Total time in zone will be under a minute.

The water surface is like an aggro force shield. When you're in the water, nothing outside the water will aggro on you and vice versa. Similarly, you cannot cast (nor sing) through the water's surface. Only if you've already aggrod a mob will it follow you through the water's surface.

I've noticed this as most convient when in Ssra's. You can swim up and down in the water tubes w/o aggroing the snakes outside.

I'm fairly sure the seahorses in SG see invis. It got to the point where I didn't bother getting an invis before I ran. Luckily, with a 65 monk, I can just about take the damage of 3 seahorses pounding on me. Just. /snort.

Sounds like you ran into the patroller. My tips in SG: 1. DON'T go afk while succoring unless you like to die. 2. remember to run west when you pop on the far side. (running deeper into SG=bad)

                        WW and Sirens Grotto

I started hunting here a while ago, and there weren't many wandering molkor/ulthorks...this changed 6 months ago or so and now there is a wanderer that will sometimes be close enough to you when you succor and aggro. Since the two walrus/servant are at the succor point and are so close to the zoneline, some people like to kill them since they are easy to pull, which sometimes leads to a named walurs being there which WILL aggro...and do some serious damage.

Just be ready to turn and run they don't see invis (only underwater swordfish and seahorses see invis) but since you are the one doing the succoring you will be seen if there is a named or the wanderer.

It can get tough if there is a named there but you should be able to turn and run to zoneline even if you are a bit lower lvl...unless you get stunned. Good Luck getting your eggs, they are a fun way to get to 151 tailoring....as well if you are low.

Thanks for all the replies. After we died the first time I did try swimming across invis'd as I also have the 10 min fixed one but as soon as I jumped in the water I got aggrod and died again.

Someone in the eqtraders chat channel said that you can also forage dragon eggs in Skyshrine but not acording to the website so I assume that he was mistaken. Shame, as that would be a lot easier!!

Well if it was just bad luck then perhaps I'll try again.

I have succored across SG many times and I have to say you are very unlucky if the KoS mob is there waiting for you. Even so it is only a short run to the zone out.

Bingo. I'm pretty sure it was a seahorse which agroed my husband, and as I said, the invis was fixed duration. Since he was agroed within 20 seconds of entering the water and knew prior to getting in that he didn't have agro, the invis could not have popped. Therefore, they must see through it. I guess to do the swimming route, you just have to be lucky enough not to run past the wrong mob.

As to the agro problem when you succured, I haven't tried it recently, but I never ran into a problem in the dozen or so times I've been ported across. I suspect you just got unlucky and found a wandering mob.

I've foraged in skyshrine with my ranger for about 2 hours one night, and although I found a billion wurm & drake eggs, I found zero dragon eggs. So I think that eqtraders is probably correct about ww being the place to go.
