  • Bazaar Trader Limit

I do not know, if this is knew, but it was knew to me ...

When I logged into bazaar today, and wanted to start /trader, I got the following message:

"The bazaar has reached its maximum number of traders. Please try again in a few minutes."

It seems, like the limit is 500 traders ...

Sony has to deal with another problem, I guess, this will get annoying.

      Limit

Yeah this recently came to light on a few servers but I hadn't seen it on Xegony yet--that sucks and I hope they do something about it soon. There is also a long standing "bug" whereby when a particular search has too many results (there is some articifial limit) then it seems to discard items based on how long they have been up. In other words, if you have been afk bazaaring for hours and a person does a general search for like a slot then your items may not come up. If you search by name the items still come up but searchs with lots of results seem to max out and discard older items.

Ouch - glad that Xev still has a relatively quiet bazaar - when we're busy we usually don't have more than 350 or so traders - I don't think I've ever seen 400 on.

As for the items not showing up - that may not be a bug - let's asume that for once someone had some forsight and descided to make it so that everyone had a somewhat equal chance when folks did generic searches? It's not too bad though - I simply pop my trader in and out of trader mode every once in a while and I'm good.

          Does Proximity matter?

I have noticed while doing some filters setting max cost at say 50p that depending where I might stand in the Bazaar, different trader items will often appear. Subsequently finding the seller seems to be closer to my standing position. Of course, I can believe it could still be just hit or miss randomness as to what actually wiill appear in the window as is suggested here.
Personally, I haven't found the "trader" refresh as useful in updating what I would see differently rather than just reselecting a slightlly different filter ie changing from Human to Gnome does occasionally bring up some different items that are for the most part All/All in their description.

I don't see the interface drastically changing anytime soon, but rather than pull downs, it could be more effective filtering OUT some generic type items too. I'm interested in combinables, but not the research pages, runes and words as a group. No Weapons, No Armors to just maybe reveal the items more oriented to tradeskill type components.

the bug of not showing items (oops....I mean "feature") is real. On a regular basis, I go into the bazaar and search for INT items. I limit to Enchanter class, but that's it. On several different occasions, for some reason, a notable item such as the Bracelet of Comprehension, has been left out. If I go back and simply type in "brac" with my current filter, it comes up. Very very wierd.

The bazaar search is just like /who all, only it doesn't give you the "The list has been cut short..." line when you do a search that returns 500 hits. What What I do is break the list up by price range, with three seperate searches (1000-5000, 5001-10000 and 10001-999999) I can usually get everything I might be interested in.

When you do a search in the bazaar, for something as general as every item an enchanter can wear that has int, you will hit the cap. Only so many items will be returned in your list. Narrow it down, and you'll get the same results every time. That's what I like the new price range features for.

The price range thing is nice.

Too bad there are numbnuts out there who price stuff in a silly way.

IF you get enough of these yahoos, the crap really starts piling up when you're trying to do real searches.

He he. I do that if people owe me money. I put up a bone chip for 2kpp and then they come and buy it of me, even if I am sleeping. Very convenient.

I do the same thing with robe patterns. Stackable, no one usually looks for them, and purchasable in the bazaar.

I like that idea Naxy. I'll have to remember that one.
I will normally put in price ranges, like 2k min price and 99999 max price to get rid of the low level stuff when searching for equipment.

The "Trader Refresh" button is only used to update the list of traders in the drop down menu. This ensures that you have a current list of traders to look at. And the tradres list gets updated after each regular search as well. So, it's pretty limited in its value and use.

For instance if someone put put up a new trader with a "long sword" you would not seem them in your trader list. however, you could search for long sword and find them. After searching you would then see the person in your trader list.
