  • Does clarity help with skill-ups when you're already at max Int/Wis?

Just wondering if it's ever been parsed, seems like I get more skill-ups with clarity even though I'm at maximum Wis.

Clarity adds to your mana regen. It doesn't add to skill up chances or successes.

Crack does some weird things to your mind. Unfortunately, it doesn't help if your wisdom/intelligence is already maxxed.

BTW, at least some in the clarity line of spells increase wisdom/intelligence, not just mana regeneration.

If I'm doing a big run I generally try to get Kei for the int bonus, but since my int isn't maxxed it's useful for that.

There has been a lot of speculation as to whether intellectual superiority and that line helps with success odds due to it's fizzle reduction. I would tend to think no, but I've seen stranger things. From everything I've seen devs indicate (paraphrasing faq) - skill level and only skill level determines odds of success. However, I don't believe I've ever seen a final answer on the IS/IA question from an actual dev, so I'd still count it as a (highly) unlikely possibility.

Yep, some of the "crack" spells do provide wis/int increase but I believe that starts with KEI. Breeze, Clarity and Clarity 2 do not provide wis/int increase but does provide mana regen, iirc.

I'm not so sure that stats above cap don't do anything. At 600 INT currently, and I had about 1/10 skillup rate from 200 to 230 (Tailoring) where you would normally expect 1/20 (at 355 INT). Basically, 600/(3*2) = 100 and as such even a failure would autopass skill check #1.

Sample size isn't real big though.

                Hello there!

I have to disagree with this, though I'm not sure when people started the theory about the int cap.

What are you combining in that sample?

I've been helping my boyfriend with tailoring and depending on what he does, he gets 1/10 or 1/20. Myself, though it's not the same tradeskill, just had a large run in smithing using close-to-trivial recipes and would end up getting two or three skill ups very close together. For example, I did 9.5 stacks and had about a 1 skill up per stack statistic... did another 10 combines, got three skill ups and all of a sudden it's 1 skill up every 15 combines.

My main point is I think what you're skilling up on has a bigger impact than how far past the int cap you're at. *shrug* We shall see though.

Close to trivial recipes net a higher skillup rate as per the formula posted elsewhere (there's a thread dedicated to it).

Would be interesting to see if the int cap truly doesn't matter.. that'd be hella cool. Probably not intended though, expect a nerf if it turns out to be true :P

260 combines of 335 trivial velious leathers and ~10 combines of 242 trivial erudite tailored cultural robes, if memory serves me - I am 100% positive on the velious though, I farmed those hides myself
