  • Misty Acorns

A while ago, I mean years ago, I kinda rember someone once having a link to a link to a link that had a map of where to find maybe the location of misty acorns spawn spots. Is that some fantasy l had years ago or is there one? I havent played in a year, but Ive done my fair share of acorn hunting in the past, and the spawn spots always seemed a bit random to me. Thanks for any help. ))

    The Acorn Map

You're not dreaming. There was at one point a display map someone made with ShowEQ detailing acorn locations, but it was a proof-of-concept, not an actual spawn map. It showed proof of his idea (which I've since tested and confirmed) that the Thicket can be divided into four sections by drawing a line across the map from the east to west, dividing it into four sections (north inside the Wall, south inside, and north and south outside). When the acorns spawn, they spawn one in each quadrant, so once you find one, you know you don't need to search the rest of that quadrant any more. Spawn times are tough to predict with a setup like this, but my experience is that it's longer than one hour.

Wow! Thanks for that info. I never knew that. Its a real time saver. Wow.

sidenote: Since it seems to be EQ dreaming season, let me dream of a quest that would allow me to forage more Misty Acorns, or an Acorn charm that would increase my chances of a Misty Acorns - the more acorns I have - the higher the sucess rate )

Yesterday, I was able to pick-up 6 Misty Acorns in the space one half hour. I found my third acorn in one section of Misty, turned around to go the last quadrant and found another within 10-15 steps. I didnt cross over to another quadrant - I was way over by the first goblin camp. Five minutes later I was able to find 2 more near the pop-up skellies. Apparently, it is possilble to have more than 4 acorns on the ground at once. Maybe two sets of acorn spawns had somehow been activated? I looked for another half hour and did not find anymore acorns on the ground. (I also didnt forage any acorns the ENTIRE time I was in Misty---but thats another subject altogether.)

I remember that around the time that velious came out there was a guide on how to find these ground spawns fairly easy. The author said to go to overhead view with a lightsource equipped on you and just wander the zone looking for them. This guide was for the yew leafs so he also added that you be invised but this method has served me well for a few years now.

Edit: After alittle searching on the net..I found the guide

I had a 'friend' *cough* that helped me pick up 19 acorns in one run through about a month ago. Took about 10 mins to run around and pick em all up.

I imagine it's easily done by using cheat programs, sure..which is also a good way to get banned from the game... which should happen more.

The only problem with that is that it can be very difficult to tell if someone is cheating like this if they are smart enough to wander around a little bit rather than making a bee-line for the spawn points, especially when you add in the dearth of GMs on the servers (other than Stormhammer). I've read reports of people who have spent months AE kiting with their bard using these types of programs without any problems...things got so bad that SoE just decided to nerf AE kiting rather than catch people. Considering their minimal level of concern about tradeskills, compared to things like bards killing a couple hundred mobs an hour, I can't imagine them putting forth the effort something like a banning program would take.

Ok, I guess Im missing something here. How can there be 19 acorns on the ground in Misty at one time?! To me, that just doesnt seem possible - even if you were using some kind of a program that lead you to the spawn spots. Im sure there are that many differnet possible locs for an acorn to spawn, but they cant all have an acorn in them at the same time, right?....On a side note, Im quickly closing in on my run of 200 combines of Vale Imbuded reinforced leather. Twenty more HQ brute hides to go I'll keep a log as I go and post when done. I'll be starting at 200 and Ill see where it takes me.

                      Two ways:

I have set my bind point to the brute cave in WW. When I log off for the night I gate there. Kill the brutes. When I log back in, I kill the brutes. Sometimes I stay and do a couple of rounds. I'd say I got over 1/2 of the hides this way. Also bazaar shopping, I check every day and I'll by them if they are priced below my cut-off point. Some weeks I'll get a couple, some weeks I'll get 10, some weeks I'll get nothing. The thing that really helped was binding in the brute cave - I've turned it into a routine and its not too bad.
