  • arrrggghhhh!!! PATCHES! %$##&

I just did 2 conversions of raw shimmering nihilite and got a strange result.
First gave me 2 pieces of shimmering nihilite and a flask of water! ??
Second combine yielded one piece and another flask of water.
That was strange enough and curious, but not the kicker.

I then went to Abysmal sea to the forge to convert some Shimmering ore.
    I got a message

"those items did not combine in those quantities to produce anything."

    What's that about??
It ate my ore. 3 times!! I want my ore back!!!

The kicker is that I called up the shiny new CS window to file a petition and it doesn't work. Can't submit a petition.

/bug window works. Dunno if anybody reads em. But if anyone at Sony is reading, HELP!

I converted 5 raw pale nihilite and got back 1-2 pale nihilite + 1 flask of water with each combine. There is definitely something fishy since I only got a total of 6 pale nihilite from 5 conversions. Even if the water is a result of fixing the bug Absor mentioned about excessive yields, I should still be averaging more than 1.2 nihilite per conversion.

I just converted Raw Dark Matter with my tinkerer... Before the "bugged" conversions, I was usually getting 2 per combine and 3 while they were "bugged". Tonight I get one dark matter and 1 water flask for each of a large number of combines. Not only is the water a bit wierd, but ignoring the water I'm way down on my conversion rates compared to previous rates.

At least it wasn't any of the stuff that's useful.

I don't think I'll be converting anything else for awhile. It's too hard to get hold of the drops to waste it on a screwed up conversion.

        Lost

I lost a shimmering aligned ore to the forge. I can only get them from vendor mining and was really happy to have gotten my hands on one. I first tried to do the combine in the old UI and I got the message - "You cannon combine these items in this container type!" I thought that was odd but I pulled up the new UI and looked up the recipie and when I hit combine I got the message - "Those items did not combine in those quantities to produce anything." and it ate my ore.

I filed a petition and am waiting on it now. To get the Submit New petition button to ungrey I did a look up and pulled up the info for that other petition and the button ungreyed for me.

Waiting to get my ore back and stuck not doing anymore conversions.

Absor is already looking into this, it will hopefully be fixed in the next scheduled update.

For now, list any recipes you run into that are completely eating the items and returning no refined product.

            GoD combines

            Thanks!

I've only tried 4 things so far:

Shimmering aligned ore - ate it

Aligned ore - did not combine
This one also was no longer on my learned recipe list. Please tell me I won't have to do that quest again.

Raw shimmering nihilite - nihilite and water ??

Velium gemmed longsword - combined ok

I finally got the CS window to allow me to file a petition. A GM left me a message near midnite yesterday. Unfortunately i was AFK. He said he needed information on how i wanted to resolve the problem.
I left a reply message that I just wanted my ore back, or a reasonable quantity of shimmering steel bars. 3 is less than reasonable, 9 is too much to ask for, lol. If he does a /random 3 9 it would suit me.

The new CS window has potential to help with the severe communications issue with GMs. An extended (leave a message) conversation is better than no contact at all.

When converting any tea leaves in barrel you will get back water + tea.
Seems converting anything produces water with a lowered number of conversions. =(

The reality is that you were getting one too many refined product previously -- This has now been fixed, but somehow, a water flask managed to sneak its way in there in the place of the extra product.

                      update

I got a message back from the GM stating that the conversion of the raw shimmering aligned ore to a bar of shimmering steel is not a nofail combine and that I could fail it and did. There for I have no right to my ore back or any bars of steel to replace it.

So I went through the pain of 400+ combines and my reward is a lower average return on the combines and a chance to get nothing at all from the combine instead of taking it to Abysmal and getting 2 each time. That simply sucks royally and makes me question what the hell is the point of doing my own conversions.

My impression from the quest text and the messages on the boards was that you could not fail the combine, you would just get a varied number, 1-3, of the refined product back. If I was wrong then I see no point in doing my own conversions ever again. If I am right though I wish someone would tell GM-Iarazyn on Bertox so I can get the ore back or get some steel back.

I did a conversion yesterday of the Talosean "Mountain" and "Regular" Tea Leaves. After doing about 20 (and only receiving 1 tea leaf and water for each), I quit doing them. I'm really curious why it is such a crime to actually get something as a bonus after all the time I spent doing the newbie quest (not to mention brewing to 250 AND the Trophy). Prior to the change I was converting and getting 1 - 3 averaging about 2.

I agree. What is the point of doing the refining yourself is, if it essentially works out better to just hand them in to the relevant NPC?

Not intended as a flame, I am honestly curious.

Tradeskillers are used to more work for less return, so it's just keeping with the paradigm.

It works out that way in the beginning, that's true, however... If you continue to refine the product, it will work out in your favor.

The ultimate goal of this new type of system is to introduce a way to reward the dedicated tradeskiller, giving them some additional product for the work they'd rather be doing anyway. I'd like to use the same system in future tradeskills, providing enough people like and use it.

That said, just as it takes effort to go out and get the raw items, it also takes effort to refine them, but the effort should be well worth the reward in the end.
