  • Idea?

I had a thought tonight while farming. My apologies if this has been mentioned before, I didn't see it.

A "Destroy All" button would be really handy.

Scenario: I'm in East Karana farming Silks, Pelts, etc. I AoE 30 or 40 of them and then try to loot. Most of them have at least one thing that I don't want, but I have to individually destroy every item to get that corpse to disappear so I can target the next; and they're stacked up like cord wood.

"Destroy All" would get rid of that body in short order, then I could move on to the next.

Doesn't seem unbalancing, but I may be overlooking some obvious exploit. I tend to miss those, since I don't do it.

Because sooner or later someone will hit that instead of 'Link All' or 'Done' and then bad things happen. Kinda like the pseudo Destroy All button that was on all tradeskill containers a long time ago. It was changed for a reason

While I understand your premise, I don't accept it. SOE has done too much hand-holding recently, IMHO.

If I'm foolish enough to click the wrong button, then I consider that my fault, not theirs and no refund.

Any tool comes with drawbacks, and this would be no exception. If you mess it up, you eat it; seems reasonable

Just a handy item in some situations; maybe you could turn it On and Off? Another possibility.

It just occured to me while I was farming, no biggie.

I've thought of a fast loot button. Similar to what you want but it puts everything in inventory. Then you can destroy it whenever you have the time.

A loot all button and a destroy all button would be great, just don't put them next to each other. Maybe with a popup confirmation box? I think it should also just loot or destroy, but not kick you off the corpse until you click done (so you can have a loot all button on your own corpse, but leave a body for a rez if necessary)

Imagine this, you are ML for a raid. You have been up all night, and are rather tired. You take down Fennin Ro (or insert raid mob of your choice). While trying to link the drops, you accidently hit destroy all.

You may see it as hand holding, but if I was present during a raid where that happened, I would be beyond pissed.

Hopefully the Destroy All button would have a optional confirmation dialog, like the regular Destroy button. Then again, plenty of people turn that off, and even when its left on, people have a habit of just clicking "Yes" to dialogs thrown at them (especially in scenarios like you mention, tired, sleepy, and just want to get it done).

A "Destroy All" button would definitely be useful when farming, especially when the "junk" is nodrop - two confirmations per item gets annoying, fast. But there is a lot of potential to have accidents - I have no idea where a good place to put the button (on the default UI) would be.

Maybe something more useful would be an setting added to the hidecorpse function that would make a corpse disappear after you've looted it once. That way you can turn it on while you're farming, and turn it off for other situations. If you accidentally leave it on, no harm is done, you just turn hidecorpse off and you can see it again.

Honestly, I think a destroy all button would do more harm than good. It's only really useful in situations like you describe, where you're killing tons of mobs all on top of each other and you're only looking for 1-2 specific drops off them. I don't think it'll be implemented because I think that 99.9% of the time it'd be more of a hazard than a blessing.

I don't mean to come off as harsh, by the way. I just can't see the devs putting something in that will really only positively affect a very small portion of the player base while creating a situation where it is very easy to destroy all loot on a mob with a click of a mouse.

Honestly, I think the petition queue is long enough as it is, without people petitioning because their guild just killed some mob for the first time, and in excitement the looter clicked destroy all instead of link all. And God forbid someone misclick while trying to loot their own corpse.

I guess I just fail to see how it's considered hand-holding. It's almost downright reckless to put in a button like this when a good portion of the player base doesn't need it, will probably never use it, and is more likely to accidentally destroy everything on either a mob's corpse or their own corpse because of it.

Excellent point, I hadn't even thought of that. Seems like it would be pretty easy to exclude yourself from that option in the coding, but maybe not.

I figured there were some scenarios I was overlooking

On the other hand, I've often thought a Loot All button would be very nice. even if it had the LootNoDrop "Are you sure" windows. Especially nowadays with the hge resurgence in Commie looting.

Using the farming example, which I believe this was specifically envisioned for...

I have a hot key bank for farming mode. It includes my main combat abilities, and a hot keyed /hidecorpse all. I use this after each spider kill.

                          Hmm...

I haven't played much since "link all" went live (college... 3 finals left this semester, if I do extremely well on all I'll make the Dean's List)

I remember (nostalgia time) back in the day an incorrect combine would EAT everything in the container. I kept a spit or large sewing kit around to eat all my "trash" without having to destroy one thing at a time. Lot's of people HATED it because they would try to "close" and accidentially lose tons of stuff by hitting "combine" instead. (I never lost a thing, cause I always close containers by hitting escape. Gosh, that was hard to figure out.)

Instead of asking for a "destroy all on corpse" button, sure to lead to TRAGEDY at some point, ask for a "garbage can" tradeskill container that eats incorrect (and all combines are incorrect in a "garbage can" of course) combines. Tada. (Gosh, that was hard to code.)

Or, better yet, a "garbage can" could give you a "token" for every item combined. Each token worth 1 copper. Stack up the "tokens" or toss them. Saves server space and time for all concerned. (/chuck bottle sdisk command from the OLD M.U.D.s I used to play on, which really dates me)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

I might be missing something, apologies if it's been removed and I'm behind the times... but up 'til about 2 weeks ago "/hidecorpse looted" did exactly that. There have been a couple patches since my last farming run... I really hope this isn't gone...

Pond, I have no clue. As a non-AE class I really never had a problem with looting lots of corpses on top of one another. ... Hmm, let me look in game.

Yup. /hidecorpse looted hides all corpses after you loot them.
