  • serverwide.eqtraders Beyond the Server

So I was looking for a way to spy on.. I mean chat with my guild alliance from work. EQIM was definately out due to firewall issues but I had access to an IRC Server that i chat on regularly. So I tossed together a bridge from EQIM <-> IRC based on IRC, Eggdrop, and EQIMD. Voila! It worked (after a few hours of tinkering with code to fix the problems)! Then i had an Epiphany. If I could connect to my Alliance channel I could certainly do the same for the serverwide channels I wanted to listen in on.

So now in your favorite IRC Client you can go to irc.associatedpowers.com #eqtraders and chat on the Serverwide.eqtraders channel.

If any of the mods here would like to contact me I'll be happy to set them up as mods for that channel to control and wandering non EQers . I'll also be adding some commands to allow that moderation to happen from the EQ side of things.

As a spiffy side note, the IRC channel is better than EQIM in a couple of respects, one is that in-game item links get converted to Lucy's URLs and the second is that it uses far less computer resources than EQIM and is less likely to crash

A shamless bump++ aka a Bump WITH new information.

A few features have been added to Tyking.

Namely he's been snooping on everybody and storing any and all links that he sees.
in a channel that he is in type "!countitems" to see how many he has in his database now.

He'll also be happy to link that uber gear to you. type "!searchitems <partial name>" to have him search for an item for you. He will return the results to you in tells, with 3 items on a line.

I'm working on collecting links. If you want to help with this /join serverwide.eqtclinks:eqtclinks and link away . He will not add duplicate items to the DB so there is no need to check if an item is in the DB already (although you may choose to do so if you wish).

What about different items with the same name? For instance Teir'Dal adamant plate. Each piece has 3 versions, plain, enchanted, & imbued, but they all have the same name.

All standard inventory on the merchants in the central section of pok has been linked to the bot. Keep that in mind if you wish to go on massive linking binges.

You get sick of holding "alt" and thinking, "Have i linked this already? I have. Right? Yeah."

Much wishing for a way to see what's missing ^_^. 2027 items as of three seconds ago, up from... 1801 earlier today. Woot. ^_^

When I'm not scared of seeing four of those item boxes on my screen, I'll go around to the other 3 sections and see if there are tradeskill items stocked on those too.

Basicly the bot looks at the item ID to determine if it's a different item or not. Which i believe the different versions would have to have different IDs (just the same name). Give it a try and let me know if it doesn't return in a search as expected. If not, i'll see what i can figure out

I'd very much like to work with Ngreth on matching up my DB with the EQTC DB and integrating the information available in the links into the site. My personal end goal is for somebody to be able to ask the bot what an item is good for and have it respond with recipies that it is used in and quests that it is used in. EQTraders has the recipie information we just have to work together to combine our respective data and build a way for us to interface with eachother.

A few changes. To those of you getting spammed about there being no channel news. I appologize. This has been corrected.
As a side note channel news is cool not sure how much it would be used for the EQTraders channel but it was desired for my Guild Alliance channel

I remember when I was interested in cooking, my father designed a DB where I could list all the 'items' I had and would give me a list of options of what I could make and what I needed to 'buy'. A bit like I had xxxx, you have 80% of the items required to make zzzz. etc. Fun program.
