  • Buying Skill-Ups

I couldn't find anything on the site about this.

From my guild trainer, what is the max you can purchase for each of the skills?

Also does anyone know how high you can go there?

I have 150 or so points I 'can' spend at my guild trainer on skills.

up to 20 in the main tradeskills (and not once you're past skill level of 21). I believe you can buy up to 200 in Begging and Fishing, though.

      doh

Thank-You, that is what I needed.

Guess I can't buy 20 points from 190-210 in tailoring.

So basically those are useless for tradeskills, 0-20 in any skill is 20-30 minutes on cheap combines.

So now what do I do with 150 points unused, hehe.

      /sigh

If we could buy our way to 250 with training points, then this site would be alot smaller.

        <grin>

And tailoring wouldn't make people insane. Tradeskills would be, for the most part, a joke.

          ..

          /agree

Wouldn't think of being able to buy 250 points, that would be a complete joke.

Being able to spend up to 20 points at any time up to 200 wouldn't be as much of a joke though.

Maybe strategically between trivials that are very far apart, not many steps between a few big spreads etc.

Doesn't matter though, I'm already addicted being a newbie tradeskiller, and already invested all of my money into it.

            I could see it now

If SoE allowed you to buy your way to 250 starting tommarow I could just see the following happening.

SoAndSo: How do you make a Helanic Tundra Breastplate?

Marriel: ummm, what skill level are you?
(I ask this now because it usually gets to the root of the problem)

            SoAndSo: 250

Marriel: Ok, you need Medium quality chain jointing and...

[lots of stuff removed to keep the joke funny]

            SoAndSo: Whats a forge?

            Marriel: Accckk

              um

I don't mean to derail, and hate to sound like a complete dolt but...

              134 tailoring... couldn't find a loom...

I needed one for Wu's because I wanted to try a cloak and it needs 9 slots.

I went to www.eqtraders.com and looked at locations, /ooc'd in 3 different zones that supposedly had looms, various people directed me to them.

Someone gave me an exact loc, and I never could find it.

The next time I got a loc I finally clicked on the wall randomly at the loc.... and found it.

So that 'whats a forge' statement really hit home.

Who woulda thunk its that square cloth leaning on a wall graphic.

To further confuse me it said 'sewing kit', had I not counted the slots, I might have thought I had opened the one from my inventory by mistake.

                To further derail...

I have never been able to open a loom for some reason. No matter where I click on it or which mouse button I click with, I can't get it to open. I've tried at least 6 different looms in different zones and on 2 different computers. So apparently I'm far more stupid than anyone else on this board, because I can't even figure out how to work it. :/

                  Funny thing about those looms

Some of them work, some of them don't. I remember when they had looms there and the looms did NOT work. Then they put in a working loom in Cabilis with the release of Kunark. I remember clicking around with my first Iksar and having this thing pop up on my screen!! It was way cool!

Naturally I went back to kelethin with my wood elf figuring they had finally fixed all those dumb looms. Must've spent five minutes clicking ALL around that thing... no go.

I don't remember when they started adding the working looms to the old cities... I *think* it was around when they were putting in all the newbie armor quests but I'm not sure. However, it is important to note that they ADDED working looms to zones, they did NOT make EXISTING looms work all of a sudden.

At least, that has been my experience. So, in general, there is at least one working loom in every city and there is probably at least one non-working loom as well.

As far as using the looms, I tend to click on the part where the supporting legs attach to the rectangular frame, it generally works.

                  Hope this helps,

Loom opening can be tricky until you know the way. First of all, if the loom has a plaid pattern on it, it is NOT a loom. It's just an old-world prop.

On a real loom (fabric is white), I have the easiest time opening from the side. You can only click (left click, like opening a door) on the wood frame part, which I've outlined in red.

                    From the front:

                    Hope that helps!

                      Yay! OMG, you guys helped me solve one of my biggest hair-pulling irritants in EQ! I know it's not a big deal thing, but it's one of the (many) reasons I quit tailoring. I don't think I ever clicked on any of the wood, just on the white part. {{{Hugs}}}

I *knew* there was a difference and it makes much more sense now.

What a beautiful reply to a beautiful derail of an outrageous topic.

Eep, If I'd known you were going to do that, I would have spent more than 5 minutes and made them look a little better. And probably made sure the "red" I picked was really red and not pink

Since those images reside on my web server, I'll stealthfully update the images this evening so you can grab a new copy Lothay.
