  • Aid Grimel difficulty question

    (First post on board.)

Have recently started getting tradeskills 200+ (have four over 200 now, the rest hovering around 200 waiting for more new tanaan crafting mastery), with the purpose of doing the aid grimel quest.

As I want to just get by with 220 skill for tailoring and smithing, and don't want to lose my previous work because of failed combines in those two areas, when I do the second part of aid grimel quest (brewing I believe). If I fail, do I receive the hardened leather signet back? And does this same rule apply to all the other parts of aid grimel quest?

You do get the earring back if you fail the final combine.

Why is there a poll? The answer is clear, you get the signet back. An example is step 5,tailoring. You lose the silk, the sap stuff, the tunic pattern, the emblem etc, but you get the signet back.

        Poll removed.

No poll was needed for this. You were asking a simple question, not one requiring the gathering of opinions.

The emblem (of fire) is not consumed on a fail either. For PoP tailoring and smithing emblems are only consumed on successes.. thankfully.

The Aid grimel robe eats the emblem. While MOST PoP tailoring and Smithing does not this one in fact does.

            Proof:
I was in group when a friend failed it. It did say the signet was an "alternate product" but it said nothing of the emblem. Plus my friend who failed it twice said it ate the emblem.

I have no first hand knowledge as I went 2 for 2 on mine

I can second that. It ate my Emblem of Fire on first try.

Thanks, this means I can do the quest without 250+ GM Trophy (although that is something I would like to achieve in future), without worrying about losing all progress up to the point of failure.

                  Happy Tradeskilling,

On a side note though, you want to get tailoring pretty high as the saps are a real pain to farm unless you're feeling pretty lucky heh.

Aye. I've failed 4 times on this quest.

                      Others I know succeeded at 220 or 221 or 225 skill. 1st failure - 220; 2nd - 221; 3rd 225; 4th - 228. I do have the 5% geerlok and each time it ate the Emblem.

I'm working the skill higher each time as I can before attempts.
