Upgrading trophies

I have a question. When you turn in your no rent bag to the gnome in the bazaar for your permanent bag, he says something about upgrading your trophy. For instance, on my GM spoon, he says to combine that with a mixing spoon to get an upgraded GM spoon. Has anyone tried this? I'm afraid of losing my GM spoon on the combine! Thanks!

There was an old version of the spoon that didn't summon a bag. The dude can replace that one with the "new" one which is the one you have.
