Int/Wis/Str/Dex cap?

I've been told numerous times by numerous people that any int, wis, str, or dex past 255 does not affect your skill up rate in tradeskills. It logicallly follows that any stat past 255 does not affect skill up rate of anything. Now, I have about 280 wis unbuffed and can bring it to 355 with some +wis gear I keep in my bank (Massive wis, the shaft on other stats) and if this statement about "capped" stat effectiveness is true, I'd like to baz 'em off and retrieve that precious, precious space. Unfortunately, despite my searching, I've not come across any even vaguely official-looking statements of this fact. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Raising Int or Wis will help you get skill faster in any skill. Dex helps with fletching and str helps with smithing. Only ONE stat will help 305wis OR 305int, both will not make a difference. Also it only allows you to gain skill FASTER it does NOT make you succeed more. Only geerloks and raw skill affect success.

I don't belive i have ever seen that said on these boards... unless it was to people who had theirs capped lower at the time.

If your stats are capped above 255, and you get your stats above 255.. they will help. If you are capped at 255.. then you don't get the benefit for tradeskills of "excess" stats that you would get no other beneift from... IE... i'm capped at 290 atm, but my actual total is around 305... because mine is capped at 290, i get no benefit from the "excess" 15 points above 290, but, i get the benefit of the aditional 35 above 255.

Mostly it's been people in the serverwide.eqtraders channel who have kept telling me this. My wis caps at 355 and in my tradeskill gear I bring it there. I'll keep this stuff and continue to wear it when I tradeskill.

I have been told personally from a developer at a fan faire that stats over 255 WILL help with skill up. This right from the horse's mouth.

Possible 'internal' capping at 305

From my own personal observations, and some discussions with TS friends, I would agree that INT/WIS/DEX/STR beyond 255 does affect your skill up rate providing of course its not capped by your level / AAs. However, I also am under the impression that beyond 305 does not affect skill up rate. So, for example, my rogue friend who has only 305 WIS when he skills up saw no perceptible difference to myself at 355 INT but both of us saw significant increases in skill up rate as our equipment and AAs took us past 255. I personally have 2x 250, 3x 240+ and the remaining 2 at 220+ with several friends in similar positions on which to base this belief.

I will say clearly though that this is only 'belief' & 'gut feeling' it is not in any way supported by rigorous statistics.

I've noticed on smithing and fletching skillups that dex for fletching and strength for smithing improved my success rates as well as skillups. I have 355 wis which i've tested with both low and high str/dex and consistently i've had better luck with the highs respectively. Now if thats just luck then ok, but just something to consider when doing tradeskilling in those two.

Maybe they were getting confused with the fact that your stats cap at 255 until you get some AAs.
