  • Buyback prices

Is my chr just too low or there a problem with some of the buyback prices on venders for crafted goods? The only example I currently have is on Geerlok Automated Hammers. Even after farming the acryla myself the cost of vender bought supplies for these is over 30pp. The vendor will buy the result back at about 10pp and then turns around resells it for about 20pp. this toons chr is at 65 so the number might be a little off for a higher chr but the concept is still valid.

This won't stop me from doing them for skill-ups but it does seem a little out of wack on the risk vs reward and benefits for effort expended.

There are no tradeskill items that sell back for profit, if that's what you're asking. If there is ever any found, they will be nerfed in value.

SoE has made it a point to make sure you can't make a profit from crafting and selling to vendors. There used to be a few items that you coudl do this with, but it lead to people running macros to earn 10k+ an hour. Since this would be an economy killer, they nerfed the prices.

My problem was not that I wasn't makeing a profit from my skills to a vender, it was that anyone who wanted to, should they find where I do my vending, could buy my product cheeper than I could make it, thus cutting out the market in the bazaar. I can see making a item that costs 30pp to make sell to a vender for 25pp to cut out the plat exploit but please make the vender resell it for at least a little more than it cost me to make it, say 40pp. That way I have a chance to sell a few in the bazaar for 35pp, still cheeper than the vender but still more than it cost me to make, hence a little more incentive.

If theres even 1cp profit to me made from a combine, people will make macro bots to do it.

Its not gonna happen intentionally... and when it does happen accidently, it gets nerfed very rapidly

Guys, I think what Xanrath is asking for is quite sensible.

Here's an example. I just made some Darkwood Compound Bows for skillups, so I'll use those since I remember the prices.

The components for the bow cost me about 230pp to purchase off a vendor. A success sells back for about 210pp -- a net loss. However, if someone wanted to buy my bows off the vendor, they would pay over 600pp each. This is logical and makes sense. If I wanted to, I could price my bows in the bazaar for anywhere between 230 and 600pp. I would make a profit on them while still being under the vendor price.

In contrast, take LDoN plate armors. Assuming you farm your own temper components, a breastplate costs about (trying to do this from memory) about 100pp in components, and sells back for around 80pp -- a loss of 20pp again. However, if someone wants to buy that BP off the vendor, it only costs 90pp. In other words, the vendor sells the finished breastplate for less than the purchase price of the components to make it.

From what I understood, Xanrath is objecting that if he resells his geerloks to a merchant, the merchant will then sell them to other players for less than the cost of the components to make them. Xanrath wasn't objecting to the price the vendor pays the tradeskiller for the finished products, but rather, the resale price the vendor charges.
