  • Theory on Favorites Corruption

Well, I played around with different containers on the same skillset, and believe I may have figured out what corrupts the favorites list.

First, you select your favorite recipes in a Tannan Oven (for example). The item numbers are the numbers kept server side on what recipes you have flagged as favorites.

    a) Bear Sandwich (item 101)
    b) Lion Steak (item 132)
    c) Wolf Fillet (item 145)

Then, you go to a different type of container. Let's say a spit (less slots). Because of the difference in containers, the recipes are no longer on the same position.

Becaise Halas meat pies (item 125) will not work in the new container, it shifts the other recipes up.

Lion Steak (item 132 on new list) now refers to Jord Meat Pie (item 133 on Tanaan Oven list).

I hope I am not confusing people on this, but here is another example (making up recipe names now just to show my point).

    Tanaan Oven:
    1) Halas Pie
    2) Wolf Steak
    3) Bear Steak
    4) Mammoth Steak
    5) Lion Steak

Select Wolf Steak as a favorite. (It is item 2)

    Go to a spit.
    1) Wolf Steak
    2) Bear Steak
    3) Mammoth Steak
    4) Lion Steak

Your favorites will have the name Wolf Steak, but actually show recipe of Bear Steak.

Anyway, this is my theory. Thank you for taking the time to look at it.

I wanted to add that I find this most often occurring when I have the same favorite on two different containers.

      Same container here...

Gonna put a hole in your theory...

I go basically to the same brew barrel every single time, and every single time I use the new interface on the same brew barrel, my favorites list gets confused recipes.

However, I do use other tradeskill containers as well, before the brew barrel (ie: mixing bowl for grobb). Or stuff for alchemy

So, if you're just talking about two different containers....*maybe*
But, the two different containers in the same skillset isn't such a viable theroy.

After spending some time making blue diamond powder for tempers, I head to the bank to get the water, I realize I have more blue diamonds (a good problem btw). Head back to crush them. Pull up favorites, click the powder reciepe, and (drumroll please) BDP = silver bar and blue diamond.

Oh, and I have not done anything with Silver bars since the new UI, nor was I in a JC bag (don't even own one now), nor did I have bars on me.

        It's a great UI.....WHEN IT WORKS

After dozens of tries, I succeeded on an Arctic Wyvern mask. I got three skill ups, so I was happy, and then I had the recipe learnt, meaning future work would be easier.

This morning I went to do some more and Arctic Wyvern BELT was known (but this uses 2 velium studs, so is inefficient) and mask was unknown. I /bugged it.

These are all done in a Coldain Tailoring Kit thingy, and it is the only recipe I have ever done in it.

Heh! It combined a BD with a silver bar in the wrong container and you didn't even have a silver bar on you??

/bug and mention you want your BD back ^_^.

IMO it's too early to place full trust in the favorites list. The entire TSUI is so new that it's bound to be buggy. Use it, /bug it, let em fix it, and don't cry when something goes wrong... just cross fingers and hope they give you your stuff back.

Without going into my semi-tirade, I'm surprised the UI turned out like it did. I was really afraid it was going to permanently ruin a lot of things, but any 'ruining' will most likely be short-term (and beneficial to me, as I find things like 12 stacks of patty melts on the ground, get free potted and smithed items like Casserole Dishes from those who made so many, finding remnants of stacks of Ceramic Linings and Heady Kiolas on vendors), and then life will stabilize again. Different than before, but not destroyed.

I predicted the sky would fall. Instead, maybe we just lost ten feet. ^_^

In short: it's new, at least they're still working on fixing it, /bug stuff, it'll get better, just be patient ^_^.

But I kinda want to know if they'll give you your BD back.

Heh, for me it's been pulling up an electrum bar and a blue diamond. Interesting.

Let me throw you a monkey wrench.

On my Vale Sewing Kit were 3 favorites:

                Leatherfoot Haversack
                Patch of Dire Wolf Fur
                Woven Dire Wolf Fur

Last night, I opened up the kit, the recipe names were the same but the Haversack recipe were actually for the Leatherfoot Pouch (2 woven + 1 infused thread + 1 acorn oil). I have never in my life made a Leatherfoot Pouch before.

I had to re-experiment the Haversack combine to get the recipe back. Go figure.

Mine's confused about the Sacred Tunare Silk combine - it thinks all I need is a silk swatch and a shoulder pad pattern! (Much to my disappointment, clicking combine for this recipe didn't create the tunare silk ).

I've never made a silk shoulderpad of any type, and this happened using a collapsible sewing kit. Doing the Sacred Tunare Silk combine the manual way did not make the UI "re learn" the correct recipe. I didn't try any other sewing kits yet (nor have I used anything except a collapsible one for months).

I love TSUI btw Even if it is a little quirky atm!
