Tradeskill Favorites Limitation

Turns out that you can only have a maximum of 20 Tradeskill recipe favorites - all containers total. This has been quite limiting and is a pain as you have to go to the other containers to delete a favorite you may no longer need. After a little experimenting i found out how to do this faster. In your EQ directly there is a fodler called Userdata and there is a file called TSFAV_Your-character-name-here_Server-name-here.txt. The contents look like:

If you delete off the ones you dont need, you can add new favorites.

This may be the source of my headaches with favorites. I wonder if this is why I can't add any. I made Beer Battered Crab last night for the first time. Was able to experiment and then continue to make them but not add to favorites (maybe not tagged). I wonder if that file gets renumbered on a deletion. I have only 7 recipes that show - 2 at oven, 5 at brew barrel. If I have a recipe #20 and missing some #'s inbetween 1-19 the system may think I'm full. I lost some when I changed from a spit to a collapsible spit the other night as well as all my 5 forge recipes when I deleted just 1..

hmm. there is a remove button you can use in the game.

has anyone tried adding more manually? wonder if you could force the list to expand.

A big problem is you must have the relevant trade skill container open to remove recipes. If you have 20 brewing recipies as favorites, you must go to a brew barrel to remove them, or as Kenamena said, edit the file. Maybe a "remove all" button is needed to clear all favotire recipes at once.

As this is a client side file, I don't see why there is such a small limit. I would much rather see a smaller limit (8-10) per container TYPE.

To add to this problem - it seems that the different types of the same container DO NOT carry over the favourites.

Example - Oven - Spit - Collapsable Spit - all same type of containers, but I found out to my dismay that the favourites do not carry between them.

Was this an oversight or intentional, if intentional it's going to be a pain to remember when I used X container for what combines.

And I don't know if this is a related problem but I have seen some of the containers give a RACE restricted message upon opening, but was still able to use them as normal. The ones affected that I have noticed are the forge in Thurgadin (gives Barbarian use only) and Deluxe Sewing Kit (gives Wood Elf only)!!

The big problem...

Only 20 favorite recipes!!! Come on! My GM brewer alone will need more than that just to make his brews! Let alone if he does any other tradeskills...

ah heck that means when I delete these files, my favorites go away!

With GoD I crash so much, I have to delete many files to get back in the game. Seems so far this is my only problem, not with system or anything. What a pain!!

They have posted that they are going to go to server side storage of the favorites.

My guess would be that someone editing the Recipe1.id=XXXX field on the client could data mine the recipe database for all of the usable recipes, similar to how the item database was mined back when they first came out with item links.
